A unique look to the famous Andes flight disaster

I have been reviewing films since the 1980s. I reviewed "Alive" in 1993 (the movie based on the Andes flight disaster). This short film tells a story that has been told many times over from a fresh perspective of Eduardo Strauch. It is impossible to pack every detail of this event into a short film, or even a feature-length for that matter. However, McNaughton does a spectacular job in hitting some of the major events. The film is best for someone who knows the story, but it is also a fantastic introduction for someone who has not heard of this miraculous event. Strauch is a fantastic narrator with a great voice that reminds you of the warm and welcoming voice of a radio star back in the day. The cinematography is top-notch with some amazing aerial shots of the mountains and the crash site. This film includes shots from today's day and age but also includes many rare vintage film reels from the actual disaster area to help show you what it was truly like to spend 72 days in the Andes. The interview occurred at the crash site 50 years after the accident hence the title "50 Years Later". When I listen to Eduardo speak, I can only imagine the emotions he must feel as we listen to him speak. That alone makes this short film worth the watch. The score is can't be beat. It takes on an emotional and motivational feel to it. They could not have chosen a better score and better musicians for the film. This film takes and acknowledges a tragic event, but in the end, you'll feel inspired and grateful for what you have in your life. I am excited to see what future films McNaughton brings to the market. I hope Eduardo Strauch takes on future narration projects.
