Retired couple Don and Dora, a couple of humble means try to live good lives, and always put their kids first. They have a rude awakening when son David runs into a little bit of difficulty.
You could be forgiven, within the first ten minutes that you are in for ninety minutes of uninteresting melodrama, forget that, this is a great watch.
It's moving, it's funny, it will annoy you, and make you feel all kinds of emotions, and maybe question what's more important, a material life, or a family life.
David Jason, who has been physically styled by News presenter Andrew Neil, as he always does shows his astronomical acting talent, the man is extraordinary. The way he gels here with the wonderful Alison Steadman, they work amazingly well.
I partly wanted to watch it because of Shaun Evans, Endeavour himself, I'm keen to see his early stuff. David is perhaps the spark that creates the drama, he's terrific.
