While the show refers to itself as a interactive cartoon, it acts as more of a game, with different scenes playing out in front of and inside the museum. It offers three questions in each round and if you get one wrong, a scene will play out where Rowdy dies. If you get all three right you move on to the next scene. If you miss questions in three rounds, rowdy ascends to heaven and you can start over. The scenes are completely different depending on where in the show you answer correctly or incorrectly. The questions will be different each time you restart or "try again".
The program won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Direction and Composition for an Animated Program.
Cat Burglar has the same initials as Charlie Brooker, the creator of the show, as well as Black Mirror and it's interactive edition "Bandersnatch".
