Jim, a wealthy and successful financial advisor who owns and operates his own firm, is nonetheless insecure in not understanding how anyone could love him despite being an inherently sweet man. That feeling is exacerbated by his third divorce, his ex-wives he caught cheating on him, and who may have only married him because of his money. As such, he has vowed to himself never to marry again. He turns to his plastic surgeon friend Syd to help him cope with that insecurity in his middle age through Botox injections. The issue of marriage could change with his current girlfriend, successful and talented caterer Isabelle, the two who are living together. Regardless, Jim cannot understand why anyone as successful and beautiful as she would choose him in arguably having her choice of any man she wanted. Having used the same private detective service to discover his ex-wives' infidelity, said PI who acts somewhat as his in-the-know confidante about his relationship problems, Jim, with Syd's somewhat reluctant help, goes even one step further in trying to give himself some peace of mind about Isabelle following some issues between the two of them about taking that next step. In going to this extreme, Jim may unwittingly threaten not only his relationship with Isabelle but his life in its entirety in losing that inherent sweetness which drew her to him.
