- A short film about endometriosis; the chronic disease affecting 190 million women world-wide.
Through the lens of an individual battling endometriosis, this film explores the profound lessons of resilience and surrender that come from living with a chronic and insidious disease.
Endometriosis is a chronic, and often debilitating menstrual disorder that occurs when tissue called endometrium begins to grow outside of the uterus.
In 2023, records have revealed that it affects 1 in 7 women of reproductive age with varying severity. It was previously believed to affect 1 in 10. The NCS lists it in the top 20 most excruciating diseases (On par with appendicitis & bone fractures, but ongoing)
Yet on average, it takes 7-10 years before proper diagnosis due to lack of recognition, serious investigation, and understanding that severe period pain is not normal. It currently has no cure and no fixed treatment pathway, but symptoms can be managed with specialist help. It is a full body disease that is too commonly dismissed as 'just' period pain.
The documentary takes viewers on an introspective journey as Sita shares her experiences enduring the physical and emotional pain of endometriosis.
However, as she is forced to confront the limitations imposed by the disease, a powerful transformation unfolds. The film captures Sita's exploration of pain as an unexpected pathway to peace.
"Endo Unbroken" is a touching exploration of the resilience and gratitude that emerge from adversity. It serves as a testament to the human spirit's capacity to not only endure pain but also to flourish in the face of it. This documentary provides hope and solace to those who may be on a similar journey, reminding them that, even in the darkest moments, there is light to be found.
