The Pod/Alien Hunger: Oh dear, oh dear oh dear oh dear
Platypuschow25 July 2017
The professional movie cover made me expect a bit more from this than I actually got. Vernon Wells & Marlene Mc'Cohen star in this C movie sci-fi effort about aliens striking a wooded area (Isn't it always) and the sheriff, a park ranger and a group of campers must fight to survive.

No originality, no proper conclusion, no creativity.

On the plus side Wells is on better form than he has been for a while, just a shame he picked a movie like this before making a much needed effort.

Have you noticed lately how few aliens actually have a master plan? I mean remember the good old days when aliens came in droves and had a plan of taking over the planet? Now it just seems like they come down with little to no intelligence and just rip apart everything they see. Why are they there? Why are we to believe these animal like creatures could pilot the craft they came in? Does anyone really care? Boring, generic, poorly made and I'm sure it's been on the Scyfy channel at least 50 times by now.

Call it an alien when you really need a monster

I know it's deeply ingrained in Hollyweird to pair up old men with hot young women, but come on. This was 2017 not 1967. Hatch is 30 years the senior of Henesey and their pairing looks every bit as ridiculous as the age difference makes it seem.

Keeping in line with the poor casting choices is the poor execution. Considering the genre it wasnt scary, funny, or otherwise engaging. I also have to agree with the reviewer who said when did aliens get so unorganized and I thought yes, for being able to travel the stars they certainly dont seem to have much of an objective other than to be a monster in a grade c production.

Three starts is probably generous, but it had some production value if not much else. An uninspiring effort all around

Nothing too deep

This made for TV movie isn't meant to be taken too seriously and if you watch it as such you probably won't enjoy it. It's not up there with Mars Attacks but for its budget I think the production and direction was well executed. Clearly the actors took their parts very tongue in cheek and some of the one liners were well placed . I'm sure the director gave the actors some freedom to ad-lib and the comedic timing was spot on at times. I also appreciate movies with behind the scenes shots as the end credits roll. As I said, its not a big budget Hollywood movie so if you're going to watch Alien Hunger, view it as more of a comedy than horror/sci-fi and best to be taken in jest.

Some reviewers have zero sense of humor. Alien Hunger is also The Pod

I liked it, falls under the category of silly fun. If you are looking for a serious Alien movie with Sigourney Weaver, this is 100% not your movie. It was and is meant to be campy. Plus, when you think it ends, keep watching. You get to see how the stunts were made. Me, I am a fan of movies that give that extra. Nice way to waste about 1 1/2 hours.
