Stupid rom-com
lor_16 October 2018
Kaylani Lei tries hard but cannot overcome the poor direction of co-star Barrett Blade and an insipid script from occasional Wicked contributor Scott Fayner. This sort of assembly-line rom-com has fortunately gone out of style, though both Wicked and Adam & Eve among the few major surviving Couples Romance distributors still offer a few new releases in the genre from time to time.

Lei is supposedly an expert at helping women to snag their boyfriends by presenting the studs with an unappealing alternative destined to get them to scurry back to the safe and comfortable mate. Writer Fayner goes nowhere with this dumb premise, other than provide a flimsy structure to hang the five requisite sex scenes on.

Much of the NonSex action is set in a bar where Eric Masterson serves as bartender, and I kept waiting for him to get a sex scene of his own, which never happens. Unexplained is a gimmick that ultimately proves quite annoying, as the script has Kaylani as an apparent alcoholic, drinking liquor constantly (when she's not humping, that is), with no payoff. It's just an aribitrary frill to fill some of the air between XXX content delivery.

Blade's acting is no better than his helming, and Kaylani's supporting cast is weak, designating this as a B or C picture on Wicked's lineup of Contract star vehicles.
