Great episode.

Had to say something when I saw someone misusing "jumping the shark" to give their pretentious opinion for an episode full of great highs and lows. With a devastating and effective ending that was done perfectly.

Great

Was not the funniest episode of this season, but I enjoyed it and thought the ending was beautifully shot, acted and the music was amazing as always. Something this season that has been a highlight for me funnily enough. Looking forward to the 1hr special.

Earnest and relatable episode honest to real life
klwalthour10 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Derry Girls is spectacular at depicting the true happiness and harsh sadness of life, be it personal or political troubles getting in the way. This episode is one of the few that so starkly show pure glee punctuated by the harsh realities of life. It reminds me of the episode when the girls perform in the talent show, enthusiastic and happy, paralleled with a tragic political event that brings even Joe and Gerry together. This is a hard time globally, as depicted, and personally, but they don't ever stop living their lives.

I've seen reviews condemning the "triggering" or "uncalled-for" essence of this episode, and I disagree. While the ending is sad, it is honest to life. This show does not skirt around the troubles-double meaning there. It embraces pain and hardship and shows how people become stronger from it and because of it with friends and family to support them endlessly. The show depicts both the country's bravery in the face of death and tragedy, as well as the girls' unwavering strength despite the hardships thrown at them.

Fatboy Slim
Hitchcoc8 October 2023
The girls and James are totally excited to see their rock idol, Fatboy Slim. And they have the tickets, but some bullies force them to fight for them and the ticket guy has not guts. It is determined that James will face off against a guy twice his size, who is also a bit psychotic. James tears up the tickets and runs for his life. When Michelle goes to the press they get special tickets and are able to go, but in the process, Clare meets a lesbian woman who says she will meet her at the concert. Unfortunately, he Halloween costume hides which one she is. Several confrontations get the expelled from the concert. Clare is happy but then gets devastating news.

Some good moments
Dougal1618 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
While the storyline maybe wasn't as strong as the first two series, there were some really great lines and some touching moments.

You would think that the English oppressor lines directed at James would be wearing thin at this stage, but surprisingly not. I suppose that's just the Irish in me, loving to see the English being attacked at every turn. Even though James is a Derry lad (or girl) now.

While the girls can be nasty to each other, when it matters, they have each other's back. When Clare's Dad died, they immediately rushed to comfort her, which was very touching actually. As was Orla's wings enfolding the group in their grief. Even when their nemesis Jenny Joyce offers a hand to Clare as the mourners pass was a nice moment.

Like the earlier episode with the Aerobics/bombing on TV, Lisa McGee has a knack of making you laugh one moment, and emotional the next.

Love Derry girls

Warning: Spoilers
I love Derry girls. The last two episodes.... The parents one I feel was a filler. The last one I was really enjoying untill the last 5 mins. It doesn't seem to fit very well as it just seems to end abruptly.

Ending so out of step, triggering and gratuitous
georgec-0346220 May 2022
Derry Girls is sooo good but the ending here is absolutely awful. So triggering for people who have been through that and so out of step with the whole vibe of the show. Its shocking but in the worst way.

What a fall from grace
conor-6769517 May 2022
Unfortunately the third season hasn't lived up to the previous two. The writing and the acting have truly jumped the shark and it's a real shame. Hopefully the final hour long special can redeem this lacklustre season somewhat but i'm not holding out much hope.
