Nice Interview with Munro

Anna and the Killer with Caroline Munro (2010)

*** (out of 4)

Nice interview with actress Caroline Munro can be found on Blue Underground's 30th Anniversary release of MANIAC. The 1980 shocker has certainly survived the test of time but I think it's pretty clear that Munro isn't overly fond of the film. She starts off talking about her early modeling days and how she eventually got into movies. From that point on we're pretty much discussing MANIAC full time as she talks about how she ended up in the role and eventually her thoughts on the film. She mentions that her friend Robert Duvall watched the movie and told her he enjoyed it and who wouldn't love to have an interview with that legendary actor talking about this film? Munro mentions several times how she feels the movie was strongly made and that she loved working with Joe Spinnel and William Lustig but when the subject turns to the controversy it really does seem as if she is either embarrassed by the film or at least didn't like the gore. She also talks about how she didn't know the film was going to be as gory as it turned out and she didn't realize this until the premiere in New York. At just under 13-minutes the discussion is a pretty good one but it's certainly aimed mostly at MANIAC fans.
