what starts as a quiet day on the beach for olivares turns into a nightmare for all the other su worshippers.reminding me of an episode of Dr who for sickos this is one of the funniest gory shorts you will ever see.what makes this excellent is the contrast of the brightly lit med beach and daytime location to the extreme violence taking place.the unlikely creatures emerging from the sea make a welcome change from psycho torture porn killers,and the true hero is the nutter everyone is laughing at at the start of film.just because this is a comedy some of the effects are truly horrifying.overall anyone who loves all out splatter will love this gory masterpiece .

"Brutal Relax" is a Spanish 15-minute horror comedy short film from 2010 that includes virtually no dialogue at all though, so you won't need subtitles, even if you don't speak Spanish. Sound effects and music (an English song) are far more dominant here. I am surprised to see how many people wrote and directed this fairly short film about a man who just wants to enjoy his summer holidays away from his stressful worklife at home, but the one thing he did not expect were the undead invading the beach where he is residing. Oh well.. a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do right? Especially if it is such a hunk like José María Angorrilla. Maybe Spaniards will know some actors here, but I really didn't. The trashiness of the entire thing perfectly symbolized by the kissing girl near the end is sometimes worth seeing, but also only for so many minutes and the film we have here certainly isn't finding the right balance with regards to anything. Or maybe it is simply the wrong season to watch it I'm not sure. I was not as well-entertained here as I hoped I would, even if the main character is kinda fun and makes it okay at times. All in all, a thumbs-down. Watch something else instead.

This total gem of a horror short may be a mere quarter of an hour in length but it's so big and packed with mad stuff that it has the feel of a damn safari, a real freaking trek, and a great one! It takes but a few minutes to get going(whatever doesn't?) and then it becomes a complete blast, with some of the most hilarious and colourful gore-gags and insane action that I've ever seen in a horror short, and most horror movies for that matter.. Okay, so the plot, or lack thereof, and concept and setup of it is so simple, but in this instance such macabre genius and hilarity itself. It's all about one Mr. "Olivares", a pretty much ordinary-looking mustachioed Joe who is a recently discharged psychiatric patient, who is advised by his nervous doctor to avoid any stress at all costs and to take a nice vacation somewhere where he can unwind, and wouldn't you just know it, the one idyllic beach that he chooses to relax at just happens to be invaded by scores of some kinda bloodthirsty green sea zombies which look like something out of the old Scooby-Doo cartoon, and they immediately get to tearing the helpless sunbathers to bits, and Mr. Olivares during the middle of all this, he is seemingly oblivious to the havoc unfolding around him, or perhaps because he's not quite all there in the head he doesn't care too much, as some of them were kind of assholes to him earlier - but what does cause him to snap and become a one-man zombie killing machine, is when his beloved Walkman cassette player breaks down, at which point he unleashes the beast and launches an all-out assault against the offending slimy sea-scourge and the short becomes a complete lunatic gore-fest! And he is seriously mad, no not just angry, as in "as a Hatter". He proves to be quite the artiste when it comes to the fine technique of bodily destruction, and a way more vicious monster than the actual monsters are! In fact, post-credits you can see that he's erected an impressive monument out of all the leftover monster parts! Heads are splattered, limbs are torn off and used as battering implements(a classic!), and perhaps best of all the bloody skeleton of a child is used in a nun-chuck-like fashion to combat the ghoulish hordes! It's amazingly gross, and to top it all off, it has an absurdly-cute ending where after everything that happens there's just one beautiful girl left alive and he steps up to her and she leans over to kiss him for saving her life I guess, but he only wants her to take some souvenir snap-shots as, bloodbath or not, he continues to enjoy his jolly-holiday! Last damn thing that I expected to happen.. I love how there's stuff going on constantly in the background of every scene. And it's really beautifully shot too, with the ever-present gorgeous backdrop of the sea contrasting crazily with all the carnage and adding to the bizarre appeal of it. Outrageously entertaining and infectiously exuberant, it all adds up to one perfect storm of ridiculousness, and is a tour-de-force of bad taste horror done good. It never takes itself seriously, and I can seriously appreciate that. Salut, what a romp!!!

Saw this recently at Goregasmic Cinema. I wasn't looking for a horror short but watched it anyway since I'd been looking at a lot of subversive horror shorts recently by Nikk Zedd and others. A lot more money was spent on this one, though, and you can tell. The frantic editing pace must've been where the bulk of the budget went...and you can tell. It's actually quite well done. It's probably a good idea that the sea monsters only bled green. An excesses of red blood probably would've rendered this movie unwatchable.

There were some funny bits interspersed with the horror and I definitely see these guys being tasked to create a full length comedy-horror movie (if they haven't been already). I also liked that catchy little "Summer Summer Time" tune that plays throughout. A horror short with a soundtrack. Kind of like "Thriller" on steroids. Watch it. It'll 15 minutes of your time well spent.
