Shahram Shahhosseini's comedy satire 'Women Are Angels' touches on issues such as infidelity, women's rights, friendship and even social power. The themes are presented adequately in the film which remains a comedy from start to end. Amin Hayayee plays Farhad, a charming womanizer who made a name with his wife's wealth. His naïve wife, Leila (Mahtab Keramati), loves him blindly until the truth about his unfaithfulness becomes too obvious to overlook. Yet, so charming is Farhad that he even manages to convince the judge to not grant permission for divorce. Poor Leila is stuck with a cheating husband who also happens to be in charge of her father's business. However, Leila's lawyer (Ladan Tabataye), cooks up a plan that should solve Leila's problems. Cleverly written and decently shot, 'Women Are Angels' provided many laugh out loud moments. It was interesting and fun to see an Iranian film tackle aforementioned issues with a touch of comedy. I also liked the background score. Even though it was minimal, I liked what I heard and it fits the film. The pacing is a little slow midways but quickly picks up. The scene with Niki Karimi's character and her old ex-husband could have been done without. Amin Hayayee is excellent as the smoothtalking unfaithful ex-husband. The beauties: Niki Karimi, Mahtab Keramati and Leila Otadi are superb. 'Women Are Angels' is an entertaining little film about empowering women in a male dominated society.
