- A famous movie star and mother of two children who have no self-estimation, has organized an evening in her luxurious home to celebrate her latest film. The evening highlights the different aspects, often unpleasant, of the relationship among the guests. A little symbolic insight, somewhat unforgiving, into the world of showbusiness, seen as a repository of hypocrisy, envy, and jealousy. An ensemble film closed in time and space with the intention of playing with languages and cultures.—Alberto Acciarito
- As a mother of two children, whose father recently passed, prepares a dinner and weekend for her visiting family, she invites her work colleagues as well. As an actress, our protagonist, confronts her fading career and manipulation among her various fellow performers and director. As her children, lamenting the passing of their father, also protect their mother, she slowly escapes into surreal and serene scenes of nostalgia and remorse as a simple get together becomes a romance of images and ironies. What begins as simple talk and colorful dialogue transforms to scenes of monologues and reflection. Our protagonist, instead of appreciating the presence of her children, comes to view her surroundings as a prison of talk and banalities. Though once rejoined by their affection, her surroundings take on another form. Scene by scene, of comedy and drama, expands from the confines of the house to the outward beauty of the countryside, never knowing what is a dream and what is real. Love interests arise and fall apart as quickly as a cheaply made soap opera, and poetic verses are performed as though from an underground theatre production. There is no singular linear story as the children and visiting caste of characters relay their tensions and affections for our protagonists attention. Initially a series of dialogues for various play pieces, the film was put together to incorporate various characters all of which open an alternative story line. Furthermore, with no clear ending, other than the escape from the house, a joyous array finally prevails after what seem to be lengthened scenes of confrontation and person to person closed relations. A play on fleeting friendships and overriding intimacy and how spaces change with mood.
