so many Trad (traditional Irish music) have just a few participants. Dempsey's had a Tuesday night regular session going for more than 12 years and could have dozen or more participants each session, with alternating "starters" and it welcomed the first timer as heartily as the old-timers.
This was a joy to watch.
I had been to Doolan in Ireland and various pubs in Dublin and around, and this was reminiscent of those wondrous evenings of familiar tunes with way more musicians than we saw there at a single session.
I loved hearing the stories of various participants, seeing their 'in real life" jobs and then hearing the reasons they kept coming back and back to Dempsey's.
I'm not a film reviewer, just a person who thoroughly enjoyed this informative and joyous documentary.
I was sad to hear it closed down in April 2016. I am sure the songs ring on in the building in the wee hours of the night.
