Anyone who hires...
Racingphan216 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Any show that brings on Beverly D'Angelo gets at least nine stars from me. Add in Jason Biggs as another guest star, and it's a winner!

As for the plot, it's been done a hundred times before on SVU.

Promising Young Gentlemen

Warning: Spoilers
I don't know if chanting a song, no matter how vulgar, is an admission of guilt, but that wouldn't be the first time Carisi did something outrageous as a prosecutor. Still, an entertaining episode nevertheless.

Ripped From College Fraternities
shelbythuylinh11 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It is ripped from the headlines over like college fraternities. But with sexism and at times racism. And that the all white it seems and some Jewish in the Hudson University that are rich, privileged, and entitled or so they say.

Though it is not a crime for rape to be a hate crime, Olivia thinks otherwise. As more girls and women come on forward there.

Sixteen men as the Jason Biggs' cop character goes undercover and records some very much incriminating evidence there. As Biggs used to be a member but not what these young men and boys are doing is a far cry.

We see Sonny's mother and how she is loud and outspoken but loves Amanda just the same. As Sonny's niece has something to do with the case as a college student.

Prestigious and Hoes

It tells about a club founded by rich young people who plot to rape. Parties organized, songs sung, all arrangements made are part of the conspiracy.

Olivia, Carisi and Squad take action to make rape a hate crime in this case. I think they are right in this story.

I miss the scenes of enforcing the laws and getting into arguments in court like in the old days. This time there is Carisi as A.d.a. It's nice to watch it too.

It was good to see Jenna Stern on the defensive. Reminded me of missing Marvel and Delaney. And Alex... and Novak... Barba, on the other hand, is always missing and looking for me.

Chef McGrath was so sweet and funny talking to Olivia about anger management. He replaces Dodds.

Good to watch Beverly D'angelo in Carisi and his family.

Andy Parlato looks like he's been on the squad for a long time.

Radical feminism going too far
jarrodmcdonald-116 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This recent offering of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is a textbook case of just how far left the show has veered. Miss Hargitay and her writers are using the show to wage battle each week as part of a rather strange war between the genders.

The stories are no longer really about sexual abuse. The rapes and other forms of vile sexual activity that are depicted as drama on the screen are merely plot devices that serve as leftist political launching points-- excuses to vilify men and overplay the female's card as victim.

Where is there any sense of balance in the storytelling? Wouldn't a hate crime in rape also apply to men, since men can be victims of rape too? But no, that doesn't even get referenced in this episode. Instead we have a 42 minute diatribe about how college-aged males hate women so much that they use sex to hurt and humiliate them. And how women, all women, must stand up to them.

There isn't even one guy who is halfway decent, willing to leave the fraternity because what they're doing is wrong. Instead, they all have to be monsters. Also, statistically speaking, not all of these college-aged males would be exclusively heterosexual. Some would undoubtedly be hazing other males, getting them drunk and victimizing them too.

Of course that doesn't fit with the narrative here. We have to see how reprehensible young men are against women, and take it as a greater truth about the problems in our society since this is ripped from a headline somewhere. Of course, the writers are focusing only on certain headlines that can be presented as part of an overtly radical agenda that suits their purposes and "educates" the audience.

It's like Hargitay and the writers are getting off on using the show to strike back at men, probably thinking in their minds that they are balancing out the scales, speaking up for women victims and doing something good. But what is really happening is that we are seeing a sort of political fetishism. This is NOT responsible, balanced television.

Not believable in the slightest
schwa8824 December 2023
First, casting on Carisi's mom, Beverly D'Angelo, was all wrong. She looks wonderful for her age, they actually looked like contemporaries, and she was way too polished.

What kind of club like that really sells alcohol to underage students? Wouldn't they be putting their venerable legacy at risk? And how is these kids are in charge of the club and there 24/7 like it's some kind of frat house? Where are the other members?

The fact that this club amongst boys was able to exist as long as it did, treating girls like this with a club anthem and all is also not believable. Out of 20 kids, not one of them would would rat them out? How could you possibly keep a cult going like this without somebody cracking? It's just beyond credibility.

Pandering and Insulting to Racial Minorities Who Face Hate Crimes?
bkkaz11 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Comic Bill Burr got into a little controversy for making a joke about how White women had leapt into the front of the line (in their Gucci shoes, if I remember correctly) ahead of racial minorities in the current discussions about rampant racial bigotry in this country and stealing the focus away. His point was there are centuries-old legacies of racial bigotry we've tried to ignore, and just when we're finally starting to look into the true scope of them, the attention's once again ripped away.

It was only a matter of time before SVU - a show that has often presented racial minorities in less than flattering ways except for a few here and there as representation - would do the same.

We've barely scratched the surface on hate crimes against racial minorities. If you're Asian, for example, you have to convince people you even face bigotry of any kind, let alone get someone with the kumquats to actually pursue a hate crime. We just came through a year where millions of Americans went, "What? Asians face bigotry?" despite daily reports of assaults on Asian Americans, after all.

But here comes SVU, and Burr would probably say with the White women putting their Gucci shoes over the line to make hate crimes all about them. Wonder how diverse the writing and producing staff is on SVU. Hmm . . .

Of course, someone will point out that they did a hate crime episode with racial minorities or something in 2005. Wow, I guess that evens it out.

Anyway, this is another preachy, pandering episode that thinks being pretentious is the same as being profound. Golly, I wonder what demographic they're trying to reach. Some creeps -- and in true SVU form these days, they're nothing but one-dimensional creeps -- sexually assault women on a college campus, the fictional Hudson University. Wow, Hudson University has been such a cauldron of impropriety, it's a miracle the doors are still open. There's no doubt who the guilty party is, no attempt at any dramatic nuance. This is just a pile on to give the audience a rush of simplistic feel goods the story never earns.

It's not woke. It's WOKE.

Actually, it's just obnoxious.

Oh, Dicky Wolf, Dicky Wolf.

It's funny these episodes are supposedly against hate
j_cary8821 September 2022
...but it's so completely crystal clear how much the writers HATE all things Caucasian, all things male, and all things Republican. This show used to be able to make these exact same kinds of episodes, with similar writing, but not try so desperately to target the political right at all times.

Every episode since 2016 (gee.. I wonder what happened that year), takes their own spin on a headline, completely warps all facts, and makes it so one sided against white males, straight people, and republicans, and it's really pathetic and unnecessary. The episodes aren't even bad. They're interesting, have good acting for the most part... the unnecessary political agendas sandwiched in the script really ruins what was once a great show, one I've watched for over 2 decades, that I keep on trying to still like, even though it's almost impossible at this point.
