A Decent Start
manofkent-668764 March 2022
What could a Trekkie want? Sleek advanced Borg technology (which unlike Discovery's disasterous Klingon revamp comes across as credible), the return of Q, the return of Seven and the rest of the crew from season one back and Picard all in one episode. Its a decent start and the spoilers from episode 2 provide some intriguing possibilities.

That said across both Trek series episodes this week there was not one male heterosexual character of northern European extraction under the age of 50 with a speaking part. Have they been cancelled by the 'inclusive' Follywood liberal elite in their self loathing one has to wonder? Does this reflect the prejudice now entrenched across liberal America? Prejudiced societies rarely can stop being prejudiced. All they do is swap one systemic prejudice for another.

Don't make it so.

Warning: Spoilers
Sorry, but when a plot tool is to open a drawer in a house that was supposed to have been empty for 200 years so Picard can pull out a gun and start shooting at the bad guys you've either missed something or the writers need replacing?

It had its moments
tiggiedapuss8 May 2022
It had its moments which leave you anticipating and imagining only to be throughly disappointed the last episode was way to drippy and emotional for me which some may like I prefer whizz bang pew pew and explosions, i fell from a great height and just feel flat after watching it for me it seemed like not much thought was put into it to make it exciting and gagging for the next series it wouldn't bother me if another series wasn't mad , this is just my personal opinion.

I do like the Star Trek Universe... But when I have to push myself to watch the episodes, like eating the food which is made by someone who just can not cook.

Maybe learn the history before you decide to write a show
idrumandproduce25 March 2022
New Star Trek is written by morons. Actual morons Maybe Alex kurtzman should watch the 2 part episode times arrow of TNG I believe this is when Guinean first met Picard. Boo to you kurtzman for being a Moron who can't even be bothered to learn the source material you massive idiot Thanks for ruining Star Trek and making it as intellectual as a man farting on tv for an hour straight.

Goose Skin / Star Trek at its very best
tshmbjdmh7 March 2022
Discovering the final frontier, that's what Star Trek is all about. The new season has started really great and I am super excited Star Trek is back to intelligent writing and even better story. Gone are the Discovery's forced dialogues and unnecessary inter character developments just to cover very blank action storyline full of plot holes. Picard is careful on choosing wise words as well as making bold decisions making it worthy series for everyone seeking more intelligent sci-fi series. Can highly recommend.

Shaka when the walls fell

Star Trek TNG is still my favourite sci-fi of all time. This has show has none of the things that made TNG great. It's like these reviews were written by people who've been playing the Ktarian game. The only good thing about Picard is the fact some of these great actors get to cash in after having unremarkable post-TNG careers.

A good start

I forgot what decent Star Trek was after watching that train wreck Discovery, Finally something decent to watch, and this episode was a great start to the season.

To Boldly Go? Please Boldly Stop.

This show basically trashes the optimistic, high values of the Federation of TNG and TOS. It is not Star Trek. The characters are ill-formed, kill with impunity, are out of control, directionless egocentrics. Picard is a hapless shadow of his past self and the hopeless writing and story arc of Season 1 has not been aided by poorly patched in cameos by past characters. Seven of Nine is particularly poorly judged; she's devolved from her role in Voyager -- a highly advanced, resourceful and rational superwoman into an angry drunk. The other characters are barely worth mentioning, Irish Romulan and all. I gave the first two episodes of Season 2 a chance to redeem the series after Kurtzman's disastrous stab at killing off all that was good, decent, positive, and visionary about TNG's Federation, but even with Q roped into the proceedings, it continues to be highly unpleasant, and as unrepresentative of the original vision of Star Trek as to be disappointing at best, and joins other modern reboots that revel in the undoing of past characters in the never-ending mission to ridicule that which went before while supplanting it with something inferior, and in this case, infinitely worse. To Boldly Go? Please Boldly Stop.

Love Picard
MelMarra3 April 2022
Don't like Q, an omnipotent being wasting time revisiting annoyances, been there done that, GO away Q. Someone was whining about "political correctness", imagine if we were a more evolved society that didn't treat over humans like creatures? Get use to it, moron.

Genuinely embarrassing.

Who's writing this tripe?! It's so dumb.

I've said it before but evidently it bears repeating - remove Kurtzman and hire some competent writers, please.

Disappointingly fomulaic
ianclarke34012 March 2022
I actually enjoyed the first episode, it was filled with promise and raised my expectations, I was very exited to see which direction they went !

The second episode just felt like a cop out with the 'Q' character wanting to teach Picard a lesson and then at the end a group of unlikely characters set off on a mission to save the universe !

I have seen that cliche too many times !

The first season was very bad. The second is worst.
danielgg-314983 March 2022
Season 2 forgets the fact that Picard is now a robot. This show is so bad...even they didn't put lights on the bridge of their ships. Maybe to save electricity. Also has very bad dialogs. Star Trek Picard season 1 is very bad, but season 2 starts much worst.

Why the Dis???
charlehto1 April 2022
OK, I don't get the negative reviews. I am have been a Trekkie since Star Trek first hit the airwaves back in the 60's...this is Star Trek, get over yourselves for God's sake! Is Patrick Stewart a bit long in tooth, hell yes, aren't we all? I thought the program was very good - intriguing, entertaining and thought provoking. I loved seeing Jeri Ryan part of the cast as well as the new comers. Lighten up folks, it's fun, adventurous and a great mind-bender. Do yourself a favor, don't over-analyze, just enjoy.

Soap
greygalah18 March 2022
The first episode of season 2 was a hook. From thereafter it devolved into contradictions of ST science and characters, then crow-barred in unimaginative events to stretch out the plot. Yeah! Lets go from warp 6 to 9.5 and still be flying over the sun's surface. The whole Borg queen intrusion in episode 3 opened my mouth in utter disbelief.

It's going to divide the fans.
PeteThePrimate7 April 2022
I enjoyed Season 1, Season 2 isn't quite firing on all cylinders after watching 3 episodes, but it's still decent. There are comments about Picard being a shadow of his former self, well, he's old for goodness sake and Stewart can still act most of the rest of the cast off the screen despite his advancing years. He brings a certain frailty to the ageing Picard but there is still that steely determination underneath. You'll never please all of the audience all of the time but this is still better than a lot of other stuff out there. Looking forward to the final Season 3 even if it won't be perfect and probably quite politically correct but that's what we're like now - too darn scared of upsetting someone.

It's not bad but it's pretty sickeningly politically correct
Sean_Biggins28 March 2022
Star Trek has always reflected whatever current time it's been made in and this one is no different but all I can say is WHAT A BUMMER!!

This has got EVERYTHING annoying from our current society in it; The anger towards the 1%, LGBTQism, tons of stuff about racial discrimination and deportation of Mexicans, homelessness and tent-cities in Los Angeles and on and on ad nauseam. I'm a liberal person but the endless leftist diatribe is insufferable and really reflects our current obsession with social media and people always trying to force others to believe at they do and hating on them if they won't. The whole show feels like being lectured at by an angry screaming Hillary Clinton. The character played by Michelle Hurd is particularly annoying, always yelling and being overly emotional about everything. Bleckk - how gross.

Why some say stop?

I am a Startrek fun from the beginning. Of course, it is not same trek like 40 years ago, but it gives some joy - especially judging by present standards, while no one wants to train his mind and everything must be said straight.

Enjoyed Season One
extcontact3 March 2022
But the season 2 opener is a serious disappointment trotting out one bad trope from the past after another with Q and the Borg being the most lamentable of the lot. They are characters which should never have been resurrected. Hopefully the season will get better, but it's hard to see how from this starting point.

Gripping!
garysyms-148657 May 2022
A more gripping, darker, earthier (excuse the pun) series which I think makes this absolutely brilliant. Twist and turns, keeping you guessing, holding your breath while waiting impatiently for the next episode to watch so to find out what's happening. Love it!

This episode was an unnecessary timefiller.
gerrith1 May 2022
When writing an manuscript, it needs a minimum of knowledge about human mind and not just typical magazine psychology who knows nothing what happen inside a human mind and were feelings is something Big and dramatic and unknown - just to develop an character and his childhood. After being Psycho Therapist for 30+ years and love good SciFi too, it seems disturbing and annoying when amateurs are guessing the human mind and wasting time with their lack of knowledge and guessing how the human mind is working.

Having a good and thrilling story don't need to go into an area in Picards mind they have no or just little knowledge about.

There are so much unnessecary shows about our time, with so little knowledge about human mind on all streaming channels. It seems unnecessary flying back in time and filling up time, repeating all the trivial stuff from shows in our time.

There could be do much they wondered about who are solved in the future on a much better way....etc.
