Good news for fans of Carol Kane, the daffy comedienne who made unforgettably funny appearances in such '80s classics as The Princess Bride and Scrooged has signed on to star as the hoarder at the center of Diane Crespo's soon-to-shoot dark comedy Clutter. Since A&E's Hoarders debuted in 2009, the compulsion to keep absolutely everything has fascinated American audiences, so it's pretty surprising that it has taken so long for a movie to be made about this absorbing obsession. Of course, the subject matter could easily be made exploitative and mocking. Yet Kane's style of comedy is more known for its silliness than any sort of malice, so it seems unlikely Clutter will be cruel in tone. It was another double-dose of reasons to clean house with the season premiere of "Hoarders" (Mon., 9 p.m. Est on A&E). Linda was one of the people featured, and hers was a house filled with filth and a dysfunctional relationship between her and her two adult sons, who still lived with her. Perhaps their most tragic exchange came when she couldn't say they were more important than holding on to maybe a hundred pots and pans, even though it had been three decades since she had cooked a meal.
Dr. Chibaud had to get invovled when Linda and her sister Robin started fighting during the clean-up. Linda insisted it was Robin trying to control her life, but really it was Linda putting up walls to protect herself from Robin and anyone else in the world. But the fight proved cathartic, and it was important that Robin never stopped emphasizing...

The winter TV drought is over! A whole crop of new shows are premiering this week and many more new and old favorites are back from hiatus. Whatever you choose to watch this week, just don't let it be "Work It" on Tuesday ... otherwise ABC might be tempted to make more.
Monday, January 2
"The Bachelor" (8 p.m. Est, ABC) season premiere
Winemaker Ben Flajnik is the lucky (if dull) bachelor seeking a second chance at love after falling short of winning Ashley Herbert's heart during last season's "The Bachelorette." Twenty-five women will enter the mansion, including one enthusiastic senior citizen named Sheryl, a sexy equestrian who arrives on horseback, and an athletic soccer player. But which 18 will make it through to next week?
"Hoarders" (9 p.m. Est, A&E) season premiere
The sometimes disturbing, always fascinating reality series is back for a fifth season, focusing on a man called Norman...
