Many of the depictions of stars exploding show a planar shock wave (also known as the Praxis effect) expanding from them. In reality, the shock wave would be spherical although asymmetrical shock waves have been observed.
Professor Stan Woosley commenting on the strong magnetic field of magnetars: "the magnetic field can be 10 to the 15, you know, uh, a hundred trillion times the magnetic field of the earth." 10^15 is a quadrillion, not 100 trillion.
