Ostensibly a murder mystery, THE GENERAL'S MUSTACHE is more of a realist social drama that explores mid 20th century Korea and what made it tick. A couple of detectives delve into a guy's torrid past in order to uncover the reasons behind his mystery death. It's a slow and talky movie that nonetheless possesses a real depth of character and has a lot to say about the place of the individual within a society. It also has much in common with Ralph Ellison's THE INVISIBLE MAN.

Interesting psychological thriller in which they are implemented cartoon clips.

Watched this too !! Being the yellow or the detective my favorite genre, I can say that this movie did not disappoint my expectations. Sure yellow is just a setting, as in this film analyzes the psychological part of the two main protagonists, and they their story is told through flashbacks
The part cartoon is very cute (for the time I think even the original), pity that not very hard.
Since this film can be seen underneath ... even a little the political context of the 60s in Korea (especially in the cartoon) is in fact shown a man who does not want to be like all the other
The film lasts almost two hours, it is not a heavy film, but I happened to go a little backward (up to 10 minutes) and to review some sequences, the film has its own particular structure and do not recommend to see him off in mind.
