I actually watched this movie
lolcatz20 February 2013
Warning: Spoilers
After seeing the first two comments I figured someone should comment who actually watched the movie.

There is no opening title sequence in the movie so I don't know what the first reviewer was talking about there. I wasn't playing video games while watching it like the second reviewer either.

The film starts off a bit silly but gets pretty dark and violent towards the end. A little too violent I think for them to try and reverse back to lighter at the very end the way it does.

The movie is not good. BUT it's not bad. The acting is hit and miss. I felt the young girl was OK. Her moment where she fights back was good.

I like action movies, and this movie does have a lot action, but it's only one kind; fist fights. Although, they are fairly entertaining for what they are. Still, a bit more variety would have been good.

It's obviously a low budget attempt by a bunch of no-names. As long as you know what you are getting into, and you don't have to pay money to see it (I saw it streaming on Netflix), it's satisfactory.

Waste of time to watch and effort to create.

Warning: Spoilers
The acting is decent, I had no issues with the actors. The plot line itself as maybe slightly cliché but fine in itself. The writing and progression especially of the fight scenes is awful. At one point the main male character who's name I forget stops at their camp site to bandage a very minor wound. This in itself is fine, the issue is he pulls a bandage from a cooler and puts his gun in the cooler. A minute late of course one of the antagonist comes unarmed, they fight and as you expect the good guy wins, yet during the fight, he does not get the gun. He hits the man with the cooler containing the gun. Because obviously? In another fight scene the younger female character saves her love interest by beating one of the bad guys with a branch. They then proceed to split up, with the male who was saved laying their handcuffed to the bad guy. Before in the fight a a gun and a knife were dropped. Yet neither of them see it appropriate to pick this up and either finish the guy off or at least take it. So naturally the bad guy wakes up and shoots. The writing is literally anger inducing. Other than that the film would be decent. Do not waste your time.

Surviving the 94 minutes or so is a game in and of itself
movieman_kev28 May 2013
While geo-caching/camping in the woods, a quartet of friends are menaced by a quartet of baddies looking for some lost valuables. Well menaced might be the wrong word as a bad guy who's constantly sucking on a lollipop isn't exactly the stuff nightmares are made of. But I digress.

This low-budget film is capable and filmed well enough, the problem I had was that I couldn't relate to anyone in the film and thus wasn't invested in any of the plights of the characters. That and the bad guys were badly realized on-dimensional clichés. Oh and th fight scenes were ridiculous. But otherwise the film's not too atrocious. Just not anything good either.

This movie is a waste of time

Firstly, this movie has really bad acting from all the actor and actress. The story line is just lame and such a boring show which really put you to sleep after 15 minutes.

From the get go this movie is awful the title sequence looks like a 5yr old attempt to copy any one of a 100 better made movies, the effects are poor the script is terrible.

Awful movie I would actually give it zero stars if I could.

You might enjoy this movie if you like watching really bad movies and can provide your own commentary. Or perhaps you could play a drinking game and take a shot every time someone's gives a bad comment. Whatever you do, don't take this movie seriously or you will be disappointed.

I got bored. DO NOT RENT.
falconevr23 November 2012
I absolutely hated this movie, the standoffs were awkward even though I'm sitting at home (I rented this on DVD). Plus I got so bored while watching this that I got onto my computer, played games, and it was only thirty minutes into the movie.

To be honest, I am writing this as I the movie is still playing. My sister is playing games on her computer, my mom is playing games on her's and my dad is just sitting there. He's the only one watching it for Pete's sake.

The acting is okay, better than most films that are made by new(ish) directors. I like the setting though, it makes it hard to screw up continuity for locations. The editing isn't that bad either. Now I'm just giving pity on this poor movie.

Avoid like the plague!!

If you happen to find yourself all alone in a post-apocalyptic world and you find a TV, a DVD player, and this is the only movie left because every other film in the world has been destroyed...then find something better to do (like counting the grains of sand on the beach) because you will still regret watching this disaster.

I won't give any details away, but the characters just don't act like any normal person would act in the given situations. The central plot idea isn't that bad. I mean a group of people being hunted in the woods could certainly lead to an entertaining movie. But the execution is just plain bad. Ordinary, somewhat dorky people turn into action stars even though they do so many dumb things in the process. And the dialogue is excruciating at times. I cannot fathom how anyone could rate this movie higher than a 1.

Enjoyable after repeated viewings

The Survival Games is an entertaining movie with an interesting plot. The cast was well chosen. The campers are looking for a weekend of fun. One couple is starting a new relationship and the other is years into their marriage that has lost its sparkle. When they find themselves being hunted, they create a bond that defines their feelings for each other. There were plenty of action scenes with fist fights and gun fights. The filming was quite good and the scenery was beautiful. The brutal opening scene set the tone and it never lets up. The campers are up for the challenge with their quick wit and formidable fighting skills. I have seen the movie several times and enjoy it just as much each time.

Good Movie for home rental!
travismitchell14 May 2014
I thought this movie was watchable.. I have watched it at least 3 times and something new pops up every time that I did not catch before. Set it the back woods of Nebraska with stunning cinema photography and OK acting by the 2 leads and sexual tension with the 2 supporting good guys.. The bad guys where believable.. The ending is unexpected so that gives it a pop.. Although the beginning of the film is slow, it picks up near the middle.. Non stop action and mystery with the geocache theme added in with great special effects. Its not a family film for kids, but enjoyable for adults . I don't want to give any spoilers away here so go see it for yourself.

i enjoyed this movie

Warning: Spoilers
i watched so many movies that before i turn it on i know if it is low budget or not. this was low budget so i didn't expect a lot. i could complain like others about what they consider problems, but having the biggest bad-ass of the bad guys sucking on a lollipop i find refreshingly different. the good guys not picking up the weapons, i'm sorry but the average person trying to be killed with adrenalin pumping through there bodies clouding judgment would not think to scramble through the bushes and search for a gun or knife dropped. acting skills i had no problem with, the story fine, the abilities of bad guys jumping up really fast or fighting really well drunk was really my only problem with this flick, but how many movies don't have this problem. i did want to know more of the characters, like the main man who could fight really well. who was he, military? so i give this movie a 7 it would of been an 8 if the drunk would of sucked as a fighter. i found this one better than most high budget movies that just bore the crap out of me.
