In Los Angeles in 1941 a young Japanese-American man, Kensuke Yamamoto (Koji Sasagawa), is at home with his family when suddenly men burst in. But these are not burglars, they are agents of the United States government and they have come to take Kensuke away. Kensuke is taken to an internment camp where he is imprisoned and interrogated. Despite his protests that he is an American citizen and that he is innocent the agents interrogating him accuse Kensuke of being a Japanese spy and saboteur. Will he be able to survive his incarceration and will he ever see his family again. Unknown and Forgotten reflects both the status of those imprisoned in such detention centers and the acknowledgment of this dark chapter in American history.
