The police find the body of a dead woman on an abandoned industrial site and Bailey thinks it may be tied to Janet Scott's investigation into the death of a former school friend, Veronica Hastings. She sees a connection in the age of victims over nearly 40 years: the age of the victim is the same as what Veronica's would have been had she lived. A random clue leads her to identify the killer but an ill-timed phone call puts Janet's life in danger. Meanwhile, Rachel meets a juror from an old case and learns that she had an affair with barrister Nick Savage during the trial in which Nick's client was acquitted. Nick is soon in touch with Rachel, obviously concerned that she may reveal his unethical conduct.
