Gen X Remember Your Childhood
GayActivist12 May 2023
If you grew up watching the Muppet Show & their movies you are going to love this show!

It is a great introduction to for a new generation to experience Dr. Teeth and The Electric Mayhem in The Muppets Mayhem!

It was beyond cute and reminded me of my childhood.

Their old hits mixed with modern music was a great mix.

I binged it in one night and it will be added to the rotation when I need a pick me up!

There is something for everyone unless you don't like music or don't like to laugh.

It made me remember how much I loved ANIMAL growing up!

It was family friendly without being patronizing.

If you grew up with Muppets...
gqytwdzv13 May 2023
THIS IS AWESOME. Lots of jokes referring to older Muppet movies; suitable for kids but with enough adult-ish jokes that kids won't catch. So many times when I literally laughed out loud, plus a few times when I teared up. Great cameos, much like old-school Muppet movies. I subtracted one star because this would only be more perfect if Jim Henson were alive to involved in it... I love that this still gives vibes of his work, unlike that disaster adult Muppets show a few years back. Also, if you know anything about the music industry, that makes it even better. I sat down to watch 1-2 eps and wound up binging 4. If you remember 70s-80s Muppets, you should at least like this, if not love it.

They're back. Or have they only just arrived?
swiftfanatic16 May 2023
Personally, I don't think the Muppets have ever ever ever EVER been wrong about anything. This show just proves my point. I think they're going to elevate Lily Singh to new heights that she hasn't attained yet & bring in fans from all corners of the globe. Lily, to me, was an internet celebrity, and now, she's much much more; she manages the Mayhem.

I was skeptical about this show when I heard that the Mayhem were going to star, but then I realized they haven't been the center of any show or movie yet.

Imagine. You're floating on a river in the summery, relaxation mode you get yourself into this time of the year, when you come to an eddy that stops you in your tracks & allows you to explore what's around you for a moment in time, if your choosing. That's what this show is, does & will continue to do. A bright, refreshing view of something we've never seen before.

The Mayhem is as brilliant as they always were but with the spotlight on, for the first time, fans of the muppets & fans of entertainment in general can view their magnificence in all its glory.

All hail the Electric Mayhem!

Heart AND Comedy
nathan-620-93064116 May 2023
This is the Muppet series we've been waiting for. It's funny, loaded with cameos, has great storytelling and it's the first muppet production since the muppets, that finally has heart again. Each episode builds on itself. For the true muppet fan, there are plenty of Easter eggs. For the first time Muppet fan, the characters grow with each episode and you'll grow to fall in love with each quirky personality. The relationships between the "real life" actors and the muppets are genuine, just like in the muppet show and the muppet movies. I love the fact that this season focuses on just the electric mayhem and not all the muppet "regulars". It gives them a real chance to shine.

A Delightful Addition to the Muppets Collection
pippy-1854310 May 2023
==-SPOILER FREE REVIEW-==

Ever since it first got announced, and especially when the full trailer got released in April, I have been absolutely ecstatic with anticipation for The Muppets Mayhem.

The last few hours I've dedicated my time to binging the series, and it does not disappoint.

Whether this is the first Muppets show you've ever watched or if you've been watching since The Muppet Show in 1976, you're bound to get a kick out of this series.

It's light-hearted, funny, and with all the issues in the world right now The Muppets Mayhem provides a great break from everything.

And if you're an older fan, you'll definitely get a kick out of all the references to previous movies and series! From visual references to the classic Muppet Movie during the first performance of 'Can You Picture That?' to more subtle references, there's definitely something familiar to spot in each episode.

TLDR; it's a fun series that you can start watching and stop at any time without worrying about losing the plot (not all shows and movies need to have a heavy, complex plot you know!) which makes it a very easy watch. Whether you're a new or old Muppets fan, I 10/10 would recommend.

This is a good way to bring back the Muppets.

Warning: Spoilers
Warning: If you haven't watched this show yet, read this review after, because this review will contain spoilers: It's good to see Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem back. I hope they bring back the regular Muppets where Kermit is the leader and main character. "Welcome to The Mayhem" is a good line in this show. The Muppets franchise just never ends! The Muppets franchise has changed a lot after Jim Henson died: Kermit sounds different, they stopped making Wilkins' Coffee commercials and Wilkins' Coffee itself and The Muppets and Sesame Street don't have crossovers anymore, they pretty much separated since Jim Henson died, The Muppets have been bought by Disney and Sesame Street has been bought by PBS and HBO. The world has changed a lot.

A Great start to the Muppetverse
johnnymarrero13 May 2023
Loved The Muppets Mayhem, it was so cool for Dr. Teeth and the electric Mayhem to helm their own show and it works, we get to see character growth and backstories that haven't happened before for the Muppets (or this band in general ) and I love it and I love how the whole season focuses on just them working on their album this is great and I think it's a great start to the Muppetverse, honestly The Muppets Mayhem is one the best shows since The Muppet Show highly recommend it and hopes it leads to more of The Muppetverse cause honestly there's is so much potential for others Muppet characters to Star in their show let's go!!

The final nail in the coffin of a dying reboot.
echoesofalostking3 June 2023
If you're looking for nostalgia, it's not here.

The original incarnation of the Muppets had a streak of anarchy and subversiveness that has been sorely lacking from any of the new offerings.

A major strength from any Muppet movie was that the wild menagerie of characters were placed front and centre in the story; the human performers were a supporting cast.

Muppets Mayhem flips the script, delegating the stars of the show to the background, while the audience has to slog through the generic tribulations of any lukewarm comedy/drama on offer, and choke down the same tropes of both that we've seen time and time again.

Dump the live characters
shinyhead77713 July 2023
This one snagged me and reeled me in. The band is back together, all in character (especially animal). There are also lots of new well-written bits, as well as tons of flashbacks from the original muppet show. As others have said, the band needed a show that focuses on them instead of the other muppets. The only muppet that is out of place is the record promoter, or whatever she's supposed to be. I don't know if she's supposed to be a squid, papaya, or number 2 pencil, but she's definitely not a muppet.

It's also nice to see they followed the old muppet show formula of including one of two A-List performers in each episode. Ziggy Marley, Morgan Freeman, Cheech and Chong, etc.

But. As others have pointed out, the lead live action characters have *way* to much screen time and don't add anything to the show except for Disney's cookie-cutter saccharine. It's a shame to ruin a show with such potential as this one has, just to "barbie and ken" up the place.

Awesome!
emmabeardmorema21 May 2023
Some recent Muppets shows felt like they had no heart and were just churned out with not much thought. Muppets Mayhem however is the total opposite. It feels like the spirit and heart of the Muppets is finally back. Loved following Electric Mayhem and loved how each of the characters had their own personality and story going on in the background. It's so funny and well written, with a great cast. Really loved Lily Singh and Anders Holm. Such a great storyline, and I feel like whoever wrote it was staying true to the Muppets and not trying to change them in order to pander to the Tik Tok generation, like Muppets Now did. Please make a season 2 of Muppets Mayhem!!!

The best thing to happen to the Muppets in a long time
addnamehere14 May 2023
This is a near perfect tribute to the Electric Mayhem and the Muppets. After a lot of lackluster attempts to bring the Muppets to the tv and theater, this one knocked it out of the park. There are a lot of throwbacks that any Muppet fan from the better days (aka the originals to the 90s) will love the references, some great jokes and sentimental moments that will have you laughing and/or crying, or both even, and a storyline that just works so well. The actors all did a great job portraying their characters and, even though "Can You Picture That" didn't sound like it did back in the original Muppets movie, it still rocked like usual. I would highly recommend this show to any Muppet fan and any potential Muppet fan. Adam Goldberg and Jeff Yorkes did a fantastic job with this show and I hope we get more of this and/or more shows/movies like this.

This is horrible
rcolwell996 June 2023
The muppets have always been hit or miss, and this one has all of the depth and acting skills of a Nickelodeon teen sitcom. I don't see how it is getting such positive reviews.

The plot is predictable from the end of episode two, and leaves nothing to be surprised about as the season goes on.

Also, way too few actual muppets. The minimal wage actors they hired must be a lot cheaper than creating the puppets and their talented puppeteers.

My advice is pass on this one and wait it out another couple of years for the next muppet idea to come down the Disney corporate poop shoot.

Wakka wakka wakka.

The muppets show we needed
Pukeonthestreet27 June 2023
Muppets now was great but was way too choppy and forcing an old horse to do new tricks. We wanted the old horse. The muppets are timeless. As seen in this show we're reminded as to why we should just let the people involved in the muppets do their thing and not force outside perspectives on it. I hope the muppets continue down this path as having some of the puppeteers invloved in writing has greatly improved things. I liked muppets now but it seemed more like a youtube video. This feels more like a show and i look forward to all the muppet shows and movies that can be made. Jim hensons vision lives on through his friends.

Best Muppet reboot
john-perry77721 June 2023
I've loved Animal since my childhood and now seeing him in his "own" show brings back good memories. Great show, good writing and lot's of emotions. The band didn't get enough time on the Muppet Show and now they've got their own show, it's the best I've seen in ages.

Hollywood should look at this and change their ways, good story, feel good atmosphere, emotional goodness, hummor, no message, just basic enjoyment.

Which Hollywood has forgotten for brain washing us with views we don't want or need.

Let's get back to when TV and movies were entertaining and we laughed and cryed.

Bring on a 2nd series.

Cheers.

The Muppets have returned to form
ducera22 May 2023
Ever since Disney acquired the Muppets (franchise), it seems they haven't really known what to do with them. The 2011 movie The Muppets was excellent, while the sequel was just okay. The 2015 ABC show "the muppets." was terrible, but the one-off Muppets Haunted Mansion was good.

In The Muppets Mayhem, the Muppets (at least some of them) finally return to the small screen in a season reminiscent of the look and feel of the Muppets from the original Jim Henson movies. This show is the best use of the Muppets at least since 2011's The Muppets.

The Muppets Mayhem is surprisingly good- in addition to nearly every episode having a significant cameo, there is great music, lots of humor, and a lot of backstory on the members of the Electric Mayhem. Through the season we see a lot of character growth not just for the Electric Mayhem, but for their human partners helping them record an album.

Unexpectedly, I saw that Adam F. Goldberg co-produced the show- the same Goldberg that gave us the ABC sitcom The Goldbergs. This show seems like a natural next step for Goldberg- the humor in The Muppets Mayhem and the seamless introduction of cameos is reminiscent of the early seasons of the Goldbergs.

This season diving into the backstory of the Electric Mayhem was a lot of fun. I hope that the success of this show means that more Muppet shows are on the way!

Muppets forever!
grpe-4862425 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The Muppets Mayhem shows a shallow story with perfect music of the famous Muppets' band "The Electric Mayhem". It's an excellent sidekick of "The Muppets Show" coming with some news about the history of the band and their first label. Nevertheless the story is "soft" the characters of the Mayhem like Dr. Teeth, Sgt. Floyd Pepper, Animal, Janice, Zoot and Lips do their best to be adorable again. From the other Muppets it's just Statler and Waldorf who got their cameo in the last track of the season.

Disney tried something new besides Muppets Show and Muppets movies. I think it's a favorable beginning to a new era of and for the Muppets. Go on, Disney! We want more!

Yes! Frickin' finally! A Muppets creative team who gets the Muppets!!!
nvanderhyde30 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Disney+, hold on to this creative team and write them a blank check! This was the best we've seen the Muppets since Jason Segel reminded the world that muppet fans come from all age groups. And it's the best muppet TV show since...well, The Muppet Show.

In one of the later episodes, the band members are handed phones. This is the downfall of the band. They tried to "fit in" with a modern media style. The Animal TicTok poses, Janice yoga cult, and Lips TED talks were funny, but I felt like I was watching Disney's Muppets Now: Chaotic fun with no heart. The Muppets Mayhem metaddresses this by having the band eventually put down the phones and turn off their ring lights to come back together out of love and friendship.

I can't say enough good about this show. I laughed a lot, got caught up in the love triangle, was generally interested in the Muppet character backstories, and 'felt' satisfied with the story. The human actors paired perfectly with the band members. The cameos were amazing. The music fit the story and rocked.

The decision to not include more frogs and dogs and bears and chickens and whatever must have been a tough call to make, but it worked. I want to see more Mayhem!

The Best The Muppets Have Been in Years: An Imperfect, but, Wonderful Series That Elevates the Iconic Band.
The_Coffee_Frog24 June 2023
I love 'The Muppets'. The Henson era (both Jim and some of Brian), contain some of my favourite films ever, and 'The Muppet Show' is so ahead of its time with its satire, but since Disney purchased these iconic characters, they have been on a bit of a downward spiral, while I love the 2011 and 'Most Wanted' most of Disney's 'Muppet' production have felt empty, most of them aren't outright bad, but they feel somewhat passionless. Then, 'The Muppets Mayhem' arrived and it's the closes thing to classic 'Muppets' in years.

From Adam F. Goldberg, Bill Barretta and Jeff Yorkes, 'The Muppets Mayhem' follows the Muppets' band, The Electric Mayhem as a record assistant forces them to record an album they promised years ago.

Firstly, this series is by no means perfect; the human characters are underdeveloped and have too much screen time, some episodes' pop culture references feel forced and some episodes can be way too schmalzy. However, those issues don't bother me that much.

Writing wise it's the best since 'Most Wanted', there are some genuinely hysterical moments in this series and the emotional beats hit extremely hard. While, the human characters aren't great, pretty much everything with the Muppet characters is perfect, Dr. Teeth and Janice's arches felt particularly well done to me.

The direction, while nothing mind-blowing, and lacking in the same artistry as '79 original or 'Christmas Carol' feels a lot more passionate, which is something I can say about everything in this series and something it has above more recent 'Muppet' productions.

The puppetry is as great as always, as where the songs, 'Rock On' and 'Believe in Us' being my personal favourites.

So, while overall it is imperfect, 'Muppets Mayhem' is one of the best 'Muppet' productions in a while and definitely deserves a season two to (hopefully) work on some of these issues. If you are, or ever were a 'Muppets' fan this is more than worth your time.

What a Treat!!
windwlkr-124 June 2023
Absolutely fun-tastic! This was one of the best muppet-related venues I've seen in a long time. Fun and clever writing, creative humor, and even though most of the cast are "newer" muppeteers they have the voices down (unlike, ahem, Kermit!) The references and Easter Eggs to past productions--"that RiverBottom band, what a Nightmare!"--were spot-on and hilarious. I even enjoyed the human cast and, as usual, the celebrity cameos were fun but not overwhelming. The producers have said they hope to begin a new "Muppet MCU" and if the future editions are like this one, I have no doubt they will succeed. Truly fun and enjoyable!

A surprising delight
kagu2 September 2023
I didn't have high hopes for this, expecting something cute but lacking in personality. So I can't begin to say how delightfully surprised by this completely realized, charming series.

A young but hungry music professional, Nora, discovers that the struggling music label she works for represents the celebrated classic rock band- Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Together with superfan Moog and competing music producer JJ, Nora has to to keep the band on track long enough to finish 12 whole tracks.

These beloved characters have spent decades relegated to the background but in this gem they are brought into vibrant color, kicking and screaming to the 21st century; discovering cell phones, online gaming, and social media. The jokes are laugh out loud funny, the cannon references are so much fun, and we *finally* get the Mayhem's origin story! Each character has their own fully formed personality and I've utterly fallen in love with each of them.

Lilly Singh brings her trademark laughs and utterly embraces the madness of the Muppets. I didn't know I could love her more.

At only ten episodes, there's no reason NOT to give it a try.

Fantastic, funny, heart wrenching mayhem
fmulderrig26 May 2023
On the face of it a show about the Muppets house band has no right being this good. The wait across several decades for a Mayhem album was well worth it, fingers crossed they do a worldwide tour to follow up.

The story arc across the 9 episodes is excellent and the character development is fantastic.

It stays funny, heart wrenching and unrelentingly entertaining from start to finish. The acting is fantastic, the tunes are top drawer and the muppetry is flawless.

Highly recommended for anyone from kids to oldies and you don't need a deep Muppets knowledge to enjoy it! Basically anyone who enjoys whimsical mayhem will love it.

Something for everyone!
ncfjyyjt14 July 2023
We were looking for something to watch as a family of 5, and chose this even though there were a couple of us who aren't the biggest Muppets fans (and we've seen them all!) The Mayhem won us all over though. As mentioned by many, this has heart, nostalgia, and humor. We found ourselves laughing at loud at different parts. After recent disappointments involving the main characters (especially that terrible Kermit voice) it's refreshing to focus on just the Mayhem. Plus, the more Animal the better! The human characters are likable as well. There are also cameos that both kids and parents will appreciate. Just good family fun!
