So survivor has suffered some really bad decision making for several season. With season 41&42 being almost the worst I've ever seen (because the season the show let Sexual assault go in throughout the season was the absolute worst)
I don't like the accelerated 29 day schedule. As I prefer the 43 day schedule. But I get everyone is cutting costs these days. In season 41-42, the schedule pace shortening was very evident.
I like that so far, they ditched the Oprah way of gifts "you get an idol, you get an idol, and veryone gets an idol". That destroyed the show because clearly the producers impacted who won, who got extra help to survive. For the first time, the show looked extremely rigged and very preachy.
The 4th wall breaks were so bad in the latest season. I'm glad they have reduced those.
The cast:
Is so much better. People that are the middle of the bell curve (average) and not all the society outliers. They all have a significant story and can articulate it. But not sanctimonious. There is chemistry in the group. The brought back more camp interactions. This helps you decide who you are routing for.
Challenges: the previous seasons recently had contestants that had near zero physical or mental capacity to do the challenges or puzzles. This was emphasized when one player completed the whole challenge for the whole team. Literally carrying his team. This season has average people that have the ability to do it all. And at times have stellar moments.
I hope this will be the show going forward
Thank you jeff probst for fixing the show.
