In God We Teach is a very interesting documentary by Vic Losick. This movie follows the events and controversy caused by one high schooler, Matthew Leclair. Matthew, known to be a trouble maker, secretly recorded his history teacher, David Paszkiewicz, supposedly "preaching" to his students in Kearny High School. Leclair's publication of this event sparked controversy all around America.
The documentary itself is high quality. It features the interviews of many people involved, thus presenting the story from every perspective. The movie itself doesn't have a narration, just the occasional text explaining some facts. Because of this, the documentary is by no means biased, it simply presents the facts, allowing the viewer to come to their own conclusion of what is right in this situation. Unfortunately, because of the lack of narration, the connection between some footage and the topic of discussing religions in school gets lost. The documentary also does a great job of brining to light other examples of teachers supposed violating the barrier of Church and State. Overall, this is a quality documentary that accurately depicts the facts of the controversial issue of teaching children religion in schools, eventually getting into the debate of separation of Church and State.
