- When one alliance's food supply is contaminated, a heated argument at camp sparks an explosive tribal council. Meanwhile on Redemption Island, the three remaining castaways compete to stay in the game and avoid becoming the first member of the jury.—Anonymous
- Previously on: Despite infighting earlier, both tribes closed ranks after the merge, with Rob even saying outright (to us) that he wants his tribemates to hate the former Zapatera folks. After the merge, Mike and the Zapatera crew tried to woo some Ometepe, but it didn't work. They tried to convince Phillip to jump, but he stayed loyal to Rob and Mike was voted out along with David.
Now Ralph, Julie and Steve are alone against a united Ometepe tribe, and Redemption Island now holds three players.
Redemption Island: Matt is praying for some kind of salvation from the trials of the game. Just when he thinks he's ready to face it, David shows up. Matt is confused.
Back at camp: Steve is happy Dave went instead of him. He, Ralph and Julie talk about how Phillip was "flapping his gums" at Tribal Council. Phillip, meanwhile, is mumbling some kind chant that seems to annoy Steve, who is still hopeful that Phillip's tribemates could become irritated enough with him to want to vote him out.
Phillip continues to meditate, explaining to us his connection to Buddhism. He says a vision of his grandfather gave him some clarity about his relationship with Rob.
The former Zapatera are eating their own rice while Phillip watches. He decides to steal some.
Tree Mail explains that everyone will return to Redemption Island to witness the next duel.
Redemption Island: Matt, Mike and David take their places in the arena. Matt says he's hurt but ready to keep going.
Each player will have 150 wooden tiles to use for a house of cards. The first two to build a tower to eight feet stay alive. The one who fails is out of the game and becomes the first member of the jury.
Mike jumps out quickly, with Matt close behind. David is struggling. Mike continues to dominate but flirts with disaster as he nears completion. Matt and David continue to catch up. Finally, Mike is able to get his tower to stay put and wins. Matt soon follows, despite David's best effort to catch up. Mike and Matt are still alive. David is out.
Rob is worried that Matt could once again come back into the game and take him out.
Back at camp: The Ometepe players find maggots in their rice and when they ask if they can put their clean rice in the same container as Zapatera's, Steve says no. Phillip and Steve argue over who is and isn't being reasonable. Phillip tells Steve he's going to steal the Zapatera rice container and fill it with the clean rice. Phillip amps it up to a racial argument after Steve calls him a lunatic.
Phillip later says Steve thinks he's better than his and "I think it has some slight racial undertones to it."
Steve decides to go straight to Rob and says they're going to vote Phillip out. Rob and Grant agree they were uncomfortable. Rob says it's OK for Phillip to be Public Enemy No. 1, he just has to figure out who Public Enemy No. 2 is going to be.
Immunity challenge: Each player must build a multi-base puzzle wheel. The first six to finish the first stage can move on to the second stage. The winner gets immunity.
Andrea, Grant, Julie, Rob and Ralph are the first to start their puzzles. Rob finishes first, followed by Julie, Ralph, Andrea, Steve and Grant -- despite Phillip having thought he had it at one point.
Steve gets a fast start in the second stage but Andrea steps up and Rob stays close behind. Rob makes a comeback and finishes a split second before Steve.
Steve is hopeful he and his alliance can pull two Ometepe players over for the vote to take out Phillip.
The Zapatera are rejoicing over how much rice they're eating. Julie then tells us she and her mates are going to vote Phillip out. She then goes and buries his shorts, forcing him to have to hang out "in his cute little underwear" for a while.
He discovers they're gone and asks questions. Ashley says everyone in camp is over him. He says "it's going to get real interesting around here" if his trunks don't show up.
Steve wants Phillip to apologize, but doesn't see it happening. Rob says he's getting less comfortable with Phillip.
"One man should not have this much power on an island," he says, "but I'm glad I do."
Tribal Council: Jeff asks Phillip about his attire (his pink underwear) and Phillip opens up about how someone stole his trunks. Steve later brings up Phillip's racially driven tirade. Phillip then equates Steve's claims that he's crazy with the n-word. Jeff asks for clarification. Phillip explains it to Jeff, who sums it up by saying that Phillip took Steve's comments one way and Steve may not have meant it that way. They could both be describing the events accurately, but it's a matter of perspective.
Natalie says she feels for Steve because she doesn't think he's prejudiced, but she also feels for Phillip because she doesn't know what it's like to be black.
Jeff finally asks who took the shorts and Julie admits it, saying she buried them and put a rock on top of them, and they'll never be found.
The vote: Steve writes down Phillip's name, saying there was no prejudice involved with "the crazy comment." Julie also writes down Phillip's name and says it has nothing to do with the color of his skin. Ralph writes down Phillip's name and wishes him well on Redemption Island, "With your underwear and your two feathers."
Jeff reads the votes: Phillip, Phillip, Phillip, Julie, Julie, Julie, Julie, and the 11th person voted out is Julie.
"Guess you're not going to ever find your shorts," she tells Phillip as she gets up.
Julie's last words (for now): "I was not expecting this, I really thought it was going to be Steve or Ralph. There's poison in that tribe, and his name is Phillip."
