- As cartoon character fans, Peter and Jared sympathize with client Steven Piper, alias 'Viper', an active member of a society of self)declared 'real life superheroes', who operate as costumed vigilantes. His latest rescue of a snapped purse ended with his being charged of the death of the petty criminal, who fell to his death, pushed according to lawyer's ex and overeager new DA Janie Ross. Peter's self-invited mother Colleen Bash adds to their problems, as she foolishly sold her house and wants it back, which Damien Karp is happy to arrange by obscure precedent.—KGF Vissers
- Open with Pindar saying he's made contact with Megan, the college girl he was interested in who he believes helped caused his phobias. Bash's mother Colleen drops by the guys' place. The guys get a call about a manslaughter case.
The case is a man named Stephen, a college kid who pretends to be a superhero by the name Raven Viper.
Viper tells the guys he chased the victim, who stole a purse. He chased the "suspect" onto a roof, where a struggle resulted in the man backing up and falling off the roof. Viper says "I help people, I don't hurt them."
Infeld agrees to let the guys defend Viper, which is their first manslaughter case without assistance.
Pindar comes on a little strong in his first meeting with Megan, telling her he's always loved her.
Colleen drops by the firm and meets Hanna and Damien. She seems interested in Damien. Colleen is there to asks Bash's blessing to sell their home.
Bash and Franklin are up against Jane in the Viper case. She tells them if their client agrees to admit mental incompetence and spend a few months in a psych ward they'll drop all charges. They agree to ask Viper, who isn't interested. They're going to trial.
Colleen meets Wendy, then tells the guys the house was purchased in hours with cash, no escrow. She has no place to live, so Franklin invites her to stay with them.
Carmen finds a witness who tells her he heard a thud on the roof night Viper's perp died.
Colleen continues to be particularly friendly with Damien.
Viper tells the guys he and a few other superheroes have a code of conduct they follow. He was following it the night of the manslaughter.
Viper introduces the guys to the other three superheroes who help protect women and the elderly in various ways. They agree to testify on Viper's behalf.
The other superheroes testify a lot of thought went into their creed and Viper is never violent. On cross Jane points out that a line in the creed about fighting injustice is not part of the local neighborhood watch rules and would seem to indicate Viper occasionally played the role of judge and jury.
Megan drops by to see Pindar and asks him to lunch.
Jane shows video of Viper having an earlier altercation with the victim while he gave him a parking ticket. The man shoved Viper and Jane now wants to add a charge of murder. The judge allows it.
At lunch we learn Megan is obsessed with an ex-boyfriend, to the point of having a restraining order. She tells Pindar she's been married twice and has slept with "a lot of guys." They agree to seek therapy together.
Viper tells the guys he constantly has negative interactions with people he's written tickets.
The guys come home to find Colleen and Wendy talking. While fooling around with Wendy Bash thinks of something.
The guys and Carmen go to the roof and wonder if perhaps Viper jumped from another roof, creating the thud. They find what looks like a piece of Viper's cape on the roof across the alley.
Without showing him the cape, Franklin tells Viper they're going to put him on the stand again. The plan is to "break his heart."
Damien represents Colleen in jer attempt to get the house back. It works.
Damien makes a point to hint to Bash that his relationship might be more than professional.
On the stand Franklin has Viper admit that he ran away from the victim. He jumped across to the other building and when the victim tried to do the same thing he fell to his death. Viper isn't happy he has to admit this.
Jane's office drops the charges. She tells Bash her wedding is off the table.
Infeld tells Pindar his doctor is the best, but seems confused as to his affliction.
Viper tells the guys his new plan is to prevent crime before it happens, by escorting people to their cars.
