youthful romantic comedy....worth watching...!!
prashanth-sai67910 May 2011
Love stories are umpteen on celluloid and yet they invite a lot of audience. However, unless there's something novel about them the viewable quotient comes down by a few notches. Sukumar, a 'specialist' in love stories (Arya and Arya 2,) comes up with a youthful, urbane love story. 100 % Love is a thoroughly enjoyable movie although it follows a somewhat predictable route in the second half.

This cute and cool love story revolving around ego has good and energetic performances from the lead pair Naga Chaitanya and Tamannaah.

The film begins in a pub where Balu Mahendra (Naga Chaitanya) walks in dressed in a bridegroom's attire and rattles off numbers and interest rates calculated by him based on figures of two people who are arguing over it. Impressed with his aptitude, they invite him back into the pub (he was spurned off before) and he narrates his story.

There begins the flashback. Balu is a wizard in maths and is a very studious guy who always excels at studies. His life follows a fixed schedule where he teaches six young students who live with him. He doesn't like disruptions in his life.

His cousin Mahalakshmi (Tamannaah) walks into his orderly life. She is brought from the village by Balu's father to study. Not interested in studies, she tries to attract Balu's attention as he is her bava. Then circumstances make her take to books. Balu helps Mahalakshmi and she beats Balu and stands first.

Both of them feel the attraction towards each other. A misunderstanding occurs on account of ego hassles whereby the two separate and meet after three years when their grandmother is ill. There are other twists in the form of both finding lovers and even getting engaged to them. But are they in love or is it mere infatuation?

The first half is breezy and pacy. The scenes are well picturised and the look is pretty hip. The transformation of Mahalakshmi from a village belle to a city girl is interesting. The scenes and dialogues are pretty relatable to the urban youth. Sukumar doesn't leave a dull moment in the first half.

Post interval the film becomes somewhat slow on the emotional front with the grandmother-grandfather angle and the growing distance between the protagonists.

The comedy doesn't jut out like usual and there are just two comedians MS Narayana and Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyan in the film. It's in the second half that the film falls into the regular path like other films. Perhaps Sukumar could have paid attention to that considering he delivers a good first half.

Director Sukumar's screenplay is fairly well crafted. Largely the film had a logical story. If Sukumar gave the base with good characterisations, Naga Chaitanya and Tamannaah provided the perfect icing with their acting. Their believable performances just revved up the film. Chaitanya was calm, cool and rock solid while Tamannaah was bubbly, energetic and emotional. Together they light up the screen with some electrifying chemistry and it was a joy to watch both of them.

Naresh (as Chaitanya's father), KR Vijaya (as grandmother) and Vijaykumar are okay.

Devisriprasad's music was peppy. Sukumar has woven the songs well into the narrative. On the technical front, the film is okay.

"Love"ly movie...Made me nostalgic about my school days :-)
ujjval-tota18 March 2012
A well knit movie. The director did a wonderful job. It literally made be feel nostalgic by reminding me of my "study" memories. I am sure this was someone's true story. The whole concept of having that competitive spirit and falling for adolescence charms has caught my interest. And how could I forget, the lovely Tamanna did draw my attention. Wish I were Naga Chaitanya in the movie. All said and done. It is one of the best stress-reliever movies especially for folks from the South India. A definite "must watch" category movie. A humble request to the Bollywood community to not to remake this movie in Hindi and make it a flop (Please donot be another Gautam Menon). The point is some stories are meant for South Indians only. The North Indians will not be able to relate to it because of the various cultural differences and vice versa. Cultural Difference: The one and only uniqueness of India that ensures the unique personality of us Indians. Interestingly if you ever see it from my perspective, it is this that ensures that our country is not taken over by anyone and thus ensuring a kind of ironical unity within us without realizing it :-). Anyways will stop the philosophy here and keep it for some other occasion :-).

100 % Love a new and a Fresh Story by Sukumar... New Concept of Ego Clashes was shown wonderfully by Mr.Sukumar... The story was good and its treatment on the screen was as well good...

Naga Chaitanya, his best role till date, he is getting better and better by every movie.. If people had complaints that he was plain and without expressions in Ye Maya Chesave... His expressions and his acting was very good in this...

Tamanna, she is one actress who can pull out any kind of a role with ease and with sincerity, her styling and her make up was very good in the movie..

Music was good by Devi, especially the Infatuation song and the Daiyalo Daiyala...

Overall a full on Family Entertainer after Mr.Perfect..

Acting : 9/10...Direction : 8/10... Music : 7/10.. Overall : 8/10...

100% Heart Feeling Good Movie.....Fantastic stuff overall!
ajaya01018 October 2011
100% love is 100 percent a terrific movie which had showed the great underestimation in love of being in love of depth at 100%. Hero Nagachetanya brilliantly played with the typical lover character, and while Tamanna played with 100% effort in displaying her love with the hero. Music is just melodious......... the Dhooram Dhooram song will take you away from the bad mood to u r past failed or success love, and rest of the songs are even not less than each other in soundtrack, music is awesome no doubt in it!

From where he left he came back with great flick, Arya 2 maker Sukumar has done yet another fabulous work that came from his mind set. There is good collaboration of Geetha Arts, Sukumar and Naga Chaitanya for the flick Hudred percent love film, its just a gift for me as i have friend who is just a seen the hero nag's character which reminds my friend, who is just a critic of all. Who stand on his own words and tries to teach other his principles, that just looked to me as a very good person to have mind under control to bag the great opportunity

This is 100% Heart Feeling Good Movie.........Fantastic stuff overall!

A Novel Take On Egoism And Complexity Of Relationships.Alas, the second half could have been better !!
afsalthodupuzha26 July 2011
100 % Love is a fresh, complicated urban love story from Sukumar after flicks like Jagadam and Arya. The first half of the movie is really entertaining and different from the usual pot-boilers in its way of presentation and story-telling.But the movie loses its hold on the audience in the second half, particularly to the end because of its complexity, loose direction and less emotional quotient. The movie may be loved by youngsters due to its peppy storyline and uber-cool music ,but the movie may not be chewable to the mass audience because of lack of masala in it.Sukumar should be appreciated for bringing out such a fresh theme about complications in love and life because of one's ego, obsession and philosophy.Devi Sri Prasad's music plays a very important role in making the film look so trendy and cool with his fresh kinda music.Overall,100 % Love is a refreshing thought made into a film, which could have been better executed in the latter half.

Performances::Naga Chaitanya gives a good, matured performance as the egoistic Balu, but seems struggling in dancing and fight scenes.Tamanna got an excellent opportunity to showcase her skills and does it so well with good emotions.Among others,M.S Narayana and Dharmavarapu Subramanyam does appreciable jobs.

Some +ves::Novelty in the theme,Entertaining and excellently directed first half,Youth feel of the movie,Peppy music by Devi Sri Prasad,Fast pace of the first half and the lead performances in it.

Some -ves::Drag feel in the latter half,Complexity of the climax,Less emotional quotient in the second half,Editing work. Music by Devi Sri Prasad is youth-oriented,cool and in tune with the theme of the movie. The songs Dhooram and Infactuation stands out in the album and are really good.Music can be given a 7.5/10.

Verdict::100 % Love is a cute love story with a novel theme, which has an excellent first half. The movie is targeting the youth and certainly has those moments which may entertain them, but may not be accepted by the mass audience because of lack of masala.Alas, the second half could have been better !!My Rating::7/10

100% love is cent percent entertainment
AvinashPatalay15 November 2011
Clearly this movie is made keeping the multiplex college-going crowd in mind. Major portions of the movie skirts around the musings of a student. The doses of humour are aplenty, rolling one after another. The presentation is the key differentiator for no effort is spared to ensure something unique is offered to the audience thereby keeping their interest captivated. And the entire credit goes to the pre-production work which I am sure was undertaken well in advance before the actual shoot.

The portion where the heroine comes to stay in house has a resemblance to papa's super-hit "Ninne Pelladuta". As stated earlier the college portions are the highlight. The disagreement could have been better written. And the second-half warranted avoiding creative liberties. The grandparents track has a good message to impart.

Naga Chaitanya might not appear charismatic at this point in time but its safe to he is confident and potentially could carry the torch. He dances to NTR instead of grandpa ANR song, which I thought was clever. Tamanna Bhatia might fail to grab your attention in the initial sequences but as the plot progresses she turns out to be eye-candy. The rest of the supporting start cast lend adequate support. Songs are peppy and choreographed quite well. Meghana Naidu adds spice in the item song.

And finally the write/ director deserves a kudos - he brings the cows home.

A good attempt but failed to close
jimmyjet198212 October 2011
I am telugu-ite but I hardly ever watch recent telugu movies because they have lost the touch. When I look back and see movies like sagarasangamam, swarnakamalam or even other Kamal movies where I was left in awe.

But this movie when I started I had a feeling that it is a nice comedy and does not fall prey to the usual 30 years back history. The story starts out fresh, new and not over the top actions. It is a challenge for lot of great movies to make sure the ending/closure is equally good.

But in this case of "100% love" the director/writer fail miserably in keeping that fresh idea/implementation and gets back to the usual two weddings, emotional drama of grandparents.

All in all I gave a 5/10 for the first few minutes where it started fresh/new.
