- The first test screening ran 2 hours and 45 minutes long and included the following scenes:
- At the airport, Eric attempts to explain terrorism to Clay (this scene reveals that the movie takes place in the Winter and Spring of 2002, placing Eric in New York City during September 11th).
- Daria is introduced in a flashback as Eric remembers her videotaping the two of them having sex (reversing the usual roles as Daria objectifies and dominates Eric).
- Eric asks for a minute to talk about Daria and Clay times him, cutting him off after one minute.
- Joe attempts to talk to Eric at the bar with Tim and Alden present, and Joe reveals that Daria's influence has greatly improved his life and caused him to quit drinking and be more confident.
- Tim and Alden sing "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" in its entirety, then Tim head-butts Alden and the two wrestle, with Alden eventually smashing Tim's forehead into the side of Alden's car, which is what wakes Joe (in the final cut, Joe wakes when Alden screams "DUDE!" off-screen).
- Daria shows up at Eric's apartment uninvited, which leads first to an argument and then to a bittersweet scene in which Daria confesses that Eric can still "be very cute sometimes," and Eric kisses Daria but she stops him (a piece of this scene shows up in the movie as the reveal of Eric's oil-wrestling fantasy).
- Marie and Tim decided to stop seeing each other until Tim is over his ex, then Marie gives Tim a book of black magic spells (this part is glimpsed in the end credits).
- In flashback, we see a time during Daria and Eric's relationship in which she gives Eric permission to have sex with her while she's unconscious. Smash cut to the present, and Eric reveals to Daria that he didn't take her up on her offer, and that he can't believe she trusted him so much then and so little now.
- Daria reveals that she had her first orgasm with Eric, and Eric tells the story of when he realized he was in love with Daria.
- After Eric's dream, Daria dreams that Eric has lost all memory of her altogether, to her relief.
- The montage of Daria and Eric's relationship shows every scene in their entirety, with dialogue.
- Eric confesses to Jolene that after September 11th, all of his decisions have basically been based on fear, including the decision to move back from New York and attempt to reconcile with Daria.
- A much longer conversation at the party between Eric and the Econ Major.
- At the party, Tim tries to force Clay to admit that Tim is Clay's best friend, putting him in a half-nelson and physically tormenting him in the process.
- At the party, Eric talks to his reflection in the mirror. The pep-talk degenerates into his reflection making fun of him.
- A Director's Cut that runs 2 hours and 18 minutes long has been shown in private screenings. After previewing the longest version, Jack Bennett re-cut the film to emphasize the comedy and reduce the sexual content and more raw emotional elements, some of which are restored in the Director's Cut.
