New Delhi, Dec 13 (Ians) India's domestic season is set to kick off with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which is set to take place from January 10 to 31, Board of Control for Cricket in India (Bcci) secretary Jay Shah said in an e-mail to all state units on Sunday.
The decision to start the domestic season with the T20 trophy was taken after taking into account suggestions from associations on which tournament they would prefer playing amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The venue for the tournament is yet to be finalised and the board has currently asked players to assemble at their respective venues on January 2.
"The Bcci will subsequently seek further feedback from members on organising any other domestic tournament/tournaments and a decision will be taken after the group stage of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The members are requested to factor a subsequent tournament in their planning and make arrangements accordingly,...

New Delhi, Dec 12 (Ians) Australia's experience of playing Day-Night Tests is the most among all international teams -- seven matches all of which they have won, unlike India, their opponents in the first Test at Adelaide Oval, who have an experience of just one Test under lights which is the lowest alongside Bangladesh among countries with pink-ball Test experience.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (Bcci), forced largely by the team management, had for long baulked at the idea of playing a Test match with pink ball, trialling it first at the Duleep Trophy for three seasons before returning to red-ball in the domestic tournament last season.
During India's previous tour of Australia, Bcci had rejected the idea of playing a day-night Test but it eventually embraced the change and played the first day-nighter late last year against Bangladesh, four years after the Aussies first played theirs.

New Delhi, Dec 11 (Ians) The newly formed Indian Railways Cricketers' Association (Irca) -- the first of its kind in the history Indian Railways -- is only for the welfare of retired railways players who, in the past, did not earn as much as the present generation, and the association will always be part of the railways family, Irca secretary Sampathkumar Srinivasan said.
A former Railways pacer, Srinivasan stressed that he and Irca president Kishore Kumar Sharma, a former fast bowler, would have discussed with officials of the Railways Sports Promotion Board (Rspb) before their December 7 announcement of formation the association, but for Covid pandemic and the farmers' agitation on Delhi's borders.
"We are 100 per cent sure, we will not go against Rspb. We are getting everything from the Railways -- our bread and butter and pension etc -- so we'll not go against them. We have...

New Delhi, Dec 9 (Ians) Former India captain Sourav Ganguly, under whom Parthiv Patel made his international debut, has said that the former wicketkeeper-batsman has always a team man and a brilliant ambassador for Indian cricket.
Patel, who played 25 Tests, 38 ODIs and two T20Is for India, on Wednesday announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. He had made his international debut at the age of 17 in an away Test series against England in 2002.
