As I have said before, I love ballet, so this was a treat for me. And who better to do it than the Kirov Ballet? On the whole, the production is excellent. The costumes and sets look great, the music is phenomenal and the camera work and editing is just as good. The choreography is both challenging and intricate, but goodness isn't it wonderful too. And the impeccable dancing does it justice. Here there is a Carabose that is genuinely frightening, an elegant and benevolent Lilac Fairy in the name of Yulia Makhalina and particularly a truly charming Larissa Lezhnina as Aurora. And it was a delight to see all the fairytale characters and their solos. For me, Furukh Rusimatov was sometimes graceful and powerful, but could be bland and diminutive as well. Overall, very good. 9/10 Bethany Cox
