Paranoia was originally something Brad Jones wrote for himself to direct several years before this film was produced. When friend Ryan Mitchelle, who has helped Jones out with film projects in the past, was looking for something as his directing debut he asked if Jones had any old scripts he could use. Jones went through his unproduced scripts and found the one for Paranoia. Mitchelle was looking to make something dark and psychological and decided Paranoia was ideal for his debut. While Jones stilled liked the concept of Paranoia and felt it could be a good film, he admitted to not liking the original script he had written, so he basically re-wrote the entire screenplay, keeping only the original concept.
Stars Brad Jones and Jillian Zurawski were married in real life. Actors Sarah Gobble and Brian Lewis were also married.
According to Ryan Mitchelle, David Gobble - the star of Cheap (2005) which Ryan produced and Brad Jones (star/writer on this movie) wrote and directed - did the artwork for the poster of this film.
Russ Harrington was originally going to play Carl Stowers, but he dropped out at the last minute. Brian Irving replaced him.
