Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson have signed on to produce the young Julius Caesar epic "The Roman".
The project is being described as a "Batman Begins"-style look at one the least explored times of Caesar's life - when he was in his mid-20s and a young general in the Roman army.
Kidnapped by Cilician pirates and enslaved on their prison island, Caesar escapes with his men. The decisions he makes during this time directly affect the political and social upheaval happening in Rome.
Travis Baker and Richard Tanne ("Cinema Cool") penned the script, while a director is currently being sought.

After he escaped, he made his way back and brutally crucified the perpetrators as he'd vowed he would. Upon his return to Rome, Caesar powered into politics on his way toward ruling the empire. Travis Baker and Richard Tanne (Cinema Cool) wrote the script, which is in the vein of "Batman Begins." The plan now is to attach a director. No word if Wahlberg will play a role in the film.
