Season Two
dana-pearl5 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I loved "Excused" the first season and looked forward to the second one. The interviews of prospective candidates at the front door was fun, and gave Iliza a chance to show off her comedy chops. The final four candidates seemed pretty OK. The participants were not sleazy (most of the time).

The second season is a parody of the first. Even without the front door introductions, it seems like there's less time to get to know the two daters and their four prospects, and they all seem super sleazy. I imagine that in order to save money, the show cut out the off-campus dates and just lets the couples roam the house. This is boring.

Season two is just a parody of itself. Bring back the original format!

Come on, Is this the best we can do anymore?
jle102115 June 2012
It's more than obvious that her quick 'one liners' are written and this show is completely fake complete with young L.A. quasi-actors.

It was mildly entertaining at first, but after watching a few episodes its just hard to watch and it seems the producers got lazy. In every episode during the second set of dates, the guy/girl who gets to choose which one to be with after the two dates straight up asks the two suitors to do something to prove their interest in them. This happens every episode. At first it was cute/innocent things like a peck on the cheek, but this 'challenge' has gotten more unnatural, odd, and even embarrassing every episode, now its kissing the persons feet or chugging an alcoholic drink. This 'challenge' is an integral part of the show. And if the suitor doesn't want to do the 'challenge', then the person who gets to choose holds it against them, and their failure to complete the challenge usually hurts their chances. This is probably the most obvious example that this show is 100 percent fake. These outings the contestants go on are the most manufactured, unauthentic, insincere, and fraudulent encounters that exist on television.

Now onto the host. This Iliza Shlesinger is just the perfect combo: Smart, witty, hot, funny...right? Not quite. I was sadly not surprised when I read the reviews on here that say Iliza is the only thing that makes the show worth watching, those people just sound like the biggest suckers. Its hilarious when an attractive host masks the true quality of a TV show, and guys fall for it.

We are supposed to believe that in the beginning of the show people actually walk up to the door, and get rejected in the most hilarious and insulting ways by the great comedian Iliza Shlesinger? Rigghtttt. Sorry Iliza, you're not that funny and you're not that quick-witted. If you were, you might have a comedy special, DVD, anything. Shoot it was hard finding stand up of you on YouTube. And even on those few videos of you doing stand up at some community college, you really were not that funny. I was absolutely shocked when I found out she won a season of Last Comic Standing. You are not a natural comedian. You do not seem comfortable on stage. There are so many successful, natural, original female comedians, you're just not one of them. If you weren't so attractive, you wouldn't be on TV.

The lowest budget and brow dating show I've ever seen.
photoe19 October 2011
I've done computer work late for years, so I used to watch Blind Date, Chains of Love, Elimidate, on a regular basis. Blind Date came up with so many random people, it was actually quite hilarious and amazing to watch the horrible characters of people emerge, especially as they got drunk, but maybe that caused lawsuits. I wont even compare it to Cheaters, which is truly engaging, but also setup.

This one is real low budget, and seems to be transparently set up, in that there is very little attempt to create the impression of a reality show. The two choosers are generally average to poor representatives of their own gender, and they choose only the hottest of the contestants trying to get to them, so it panders in that sense.

In the case of men choosing women, the women across the board are aspiring LA actresses, or more likely, strippers, who put on the dumbest of acts. It seems like everyone is chosen to be dumber than the host, who is attractive, sharp, and charming, and also fairly cruel and clinical. Her role is to play superior to it all, which can't help the fact that she's knee deep in the sleaze-fest. You can't help thinking she should get a better gig most of the time she's on. Her relentless insults don't bug me, but they could bug plenty of viewers.

The production is really meager. The only graphics are a weak 3D title opener, the sets are reminiscent of porn, so you won't see any changing scenery, or random spectators getting involved, like you did on Blind Date. There's no upbeat theme song. No vehicles. The contestants come to the house, basically to be abused for who knows what pittance of a paycheck. It's actually similar to the show where the finalist gets to select which one of the choosers, and then that person can bail as well (for more money I assume, although I think the entire thing is scripted). Since it is scripted, you get to watch total hacks act, not a pleasant sight. You also get to watch the host high-five the contestants. Lame.

The other shows were fun on a certain level. I won't say this show is never fun, but fun is rare enough to make you want change the channel.

Nasty show
Meridian_Brewing28 August 2012
Iliza is rude to her guests. Especially men. I see the enjoyment as she makes horrible degrading comments to her guests.

I agree with a lot of other reviews that state this is the worst show out there. You might ask: Why do you watch it then? I happen to be flipping channels and hit the show once in a while... Within a few minutes I turn to something else because it is the same degrading show as it is every time I watch a few minutes of it...

Iliza is not ugly by any means but she has no room to talk about others bad areas... She surely has her own faults to contend with. Naming one is her nasty attitude toward men...

I thought telling others my opinion was important enough to take the time to do so.

Horrible degrading show
ashteva16 May 2012
I have never seen a show that degrades and demeans individuals by the host as well as the participants. It's a sad shame that people think this show is entertaining when in fact it is shallow and lacking in any real talent for its emcee. I don't know why this girl thinks she can be so rude and callous to individuals who are looking for possible dates. The things that she says are very hurtful and rude. Does she have trouble finding someone to ask her out? Is this why she treats everyone with so much disrespect and callousness? I'd like to see her show up at the door and have someone rake her through the coals and see how she like it! Horrible show!

were do i start ,first the host is a pathetic nasty witch that has a flat chest and warts all over her chest, and has the nerve to insult people, very predictable show, always the same lame crap..... cancel please, this is destroying this country, there is enough hate in this world without a show like this that judges people, and whats with the two people always ditch the same person,im sure there is something better to put in it's place , what happened to the good dating shows like love connection with Chuck Wollery, there was no hating on there ,just pure clean and decent..

best reality dating show
heshimuwarrior20 November 2011
this is the best reality dating show on TV, as good as the first Blind Date. I believe it has the same producers.

the hostess is hilarious and to the truth, the script is plain. The two in charge have to power to pick based on quick peek, profile, and then two face to face dates. They pick one person, when then PICKS between the two of them. This spices up the show, the last one picked can decide to not-pick the last person standing. This means that you can get thrown, like Flava Flav in the end, but it isn't scripted at all. People are competitive and will win, even if they don't like a guy, so u never know.

Sometimes, connections are made, and the hostess is wise enough to see through the one date won't work and the relationships that might actually happen. This is better than Cheaters because you can watch it without much grief.

Not a good show, not by a long shot.
aplutofanclub23 July 2012
Warning: Spoilers
The worst show I have seen in a while. May god have mercy on your soul if you are a normal looking nice guy or girl looking to find love instead of someone with rock hard tight abs or a big chest who is just trying to prove that they are the best and win the show with no feelings at all.

The host is also kind of annoying. Make that very annoying. Whenever a GUY gets excused on the show, she has a bunch of insults to throw at him and makes him do embarrassing stuff. But when a GIRL gets excused, she usually says something like,"Oh,but you're sooo pretty!" It's total BS.

Everyone is usually a fake on there as well. The normal ones usually get excused after the first date or after looking at their Jazzed profiles. The people who stay usually act like they love the person, but when they eventually get excused they say something like, "I don't love you anyway! I'm gonna go find me a real man/woman."

It's also pretty obvious the show is filled with wannabe Hollywood actors who think they have a future in acting instead of people who are really looking to settle down and find love.

This show should get excused from the network. It is useless. They should consider it a favor that I gave them a 2 star rating. It's garbage.

Refreshing
meadhros16 September 2011
Funny show. The host pretty much carries the program.

She is sharp and witty. I think she is a cross between Letterman and Craig Ferguson only she is better looking and she bites a bit harder. Most of those dating reality shows suck, but I actually enjoyed this one. I came back after every commercial and that is a first for me.

The host has a way of hitting the contestants over the head with her "zingers", without really making you feel like you were punched in the stomach. Tough to balance humor and flat-out insults. I think that is what made it enjoyable.

I was never a fan of Simon on American Idol because he was just too mean. I think this Iliza lady has got the right combination for success,

good dating show
someguy201316 September 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know why there are so many negative reviews of this show. If you like dating shows, I recommend this one as well. The host is hot and usually pretty funny in a sarcastic. She has no illusions that this is masterpiece theater. The contestants are generally good looking and many if not all of them are aspiring actors or models, but that doesn't mean there attempt at romance isn't real! I'm not sure how successful or long-lasting any of the connections on the show are, but it's not like the Bachelor is bumping out a lot of happily ever after either! Plus, one half hour of this gets you the same bang for your book that it takes an entire season of the Bachelor to get! One of the things that bother me about this show is that the two primary contestants have to agree which competitors to eliminate. How often do too men or women agree on potential choices in a date? When they don't, they just decide with a coin flip. When they can't agree which final contestant too date out of two choices, why not just let each date their own choice?

Iliza may make the show, but....
kennerdarryl16 April 2012
She can't prevent it from being a flat-out insult to watch.

Why would women feel a need to lower themselves to behave like painted trollops jumping through hoops, to vie for the attention of narcissistic troglodytes? WTF? This show is an insulting embarrassment to women all over the globe.

Man, these are some of the phoniest, most contrived-looking females clucking like chickens, shaking their butts and tonguing guys they've never met. Classy! And is the competition for male companionship SO strong that they have to don their clown makeup and costumes, and turn themselves into something their Mamas would be ashamed of?

And the men?... whoa. The men make 'single' an attractive option.

The host, Iliza Schlesinger is so funny it's worth watching.
hearthwitchkat21 October 2011
Ms. Schlesinger is hilarious! Her one liners directed at potential daters has me laughing out loud every time. She shines.

I like that first 2 potential daters choose from a line-up; then, after eliminating 3 out of 4, the 1 left standing chooses 1 from the first 2; then, surprise, that person has the option to reject them.

I agree they need a little work on the production end and need to pick more potential daters that are actually interesting.

DVR it and watch her, especially at the end when they show some of her comments that weren't aired on the actual show.

It kind of reminds me of the show "Baggage" on GSN with a twist.

Everybody is Right and Everybody is Wrong

What is Happening Here?

What this "show" is about is FEMDOM, pure and simple. It takes all the nice elements about women & loving relationships and throws them in the sewer, over and over again, by a female -none the less! By the way, She is not that attractive, especially when she contorts her face. Uggghhh!!

It is not about laughs, or male/female harmony, it is all about social re-engineering. The host demonstrates how most women think in their minds, but do not verbalize to others. In other words, What goes on in a crazy bitches mind. This show facilitates the idea that this is normal female behavior and keeps delivering the same message.

Reverse the gender roles for a minute, if the host were a male, this show would be insanely funny, because it would be considered "normal" male behavior, but it would not fit the "Political Correctness" politics of the Hollywood social re-engineers. So, that's why they use a female - Get It!

Well, I hope you get the idea, because this is the future of Mass Media in America, in movies, music, ads,in the work place - everywhere.

Total Social Gender Destruction & Chaos, that's what the Hollywood product is now, I agree with one of other reviewers, Hollywood has lost all forms of highly creative thinking.

Just think, Technology has created a world of endless creative possibilities and this is all they can imagine, along with Forrest Gump, Shreck, Cops & Narcotic Traffickers and now another Batman movie.

This whole industry exists purely for profit.
