Season Two Review
southdavid2 August 2022
I'm a big "Bob's Burgers" guy and once I'd warmed up to it a bit after a shaky start, I enjoyed the first season of "The Great North". Happily, this second run start where the first left off and is a much more consistent run, despite doubling the length of it.

Beef Tobin (Nick Offerman) is an Alaskan Fisherman who lives with his three sons, Wolf (Will Forte), Ham (Paul Rust) and Moon (Aparna Nancherla), his daughter Judy (Jenny Slate) and Wolf's wife Honeybee (Dulce Sloan). Adventures this season include, Judy throwing a Murder mystery party that does not go as planned, Ham getting a job at the towns Chinese restaurant and Beef finally coming clean about being the fiend of Family Land RV park.

I will concede that if you're not already on board with the style of humour that "The Great North" shares with "Bobs Burgers" this is unlikely to win you over. It's very much the kind of gentle, witty laughs across both show and, although not as prevalent as with "Bobs" there are an increasing number of musical numbers that help make up the show. There's not very much in the way of

Pretty much all of the vocal cast are great, though I'll give special praise to Will Forte for the naivety and joy he gets into the Wolf character. Across the season Gary Cole, Paul F Tompkins, Missi Pyle, Holland Taylor and Timothy Olyphant are amongst the guest stars.

If the first season took a while to win me over, that wasn't the case here and I found the season to be consistently amusing. Looking forward to Season Three.

I am IMPRESSED

It's really impressive seeing how good Moon can handle a skunk. Way better than Linda Belcher (from Bob's Burgers) and Rigby (from Regular Show) by comparison.

Still doesn't top Oscar (from Oscar's Oasis) though. That one is the ultimate.
