It was important to the filmmakers to cast the role of Faye with an actress who had a history in comic book films or television. Lee Meriwether, who played Catwoman in "Batman" (1966), was the first choice for the part. Before Lee was confirmed, both Phyllis Coates and Noel Neill, who played Lois Lane in "Adventures of Superman" (1952), were also approached.
Charles Howerton has frequently done voice work for animated comic adaptations such as "Batman" (1993), "Superman" (1996), "Fantastic Four" (1995) and "Justice League" (2003).
