In October of 2002, a burning car is found in a parking lot on the outskirts of Livermore, CA. The car belongs to 17-year-old Jenna Nannetti. There is no sign of her in the car. For two weeks, search parties comb the area to no avail, until a fisherman stumbles upon Jenna's decomposing body in woods 30 miles away. Investigators immediately suspect she was shot to death by her estranged husband, 20-year-old Michael Simons, but he denies any involvement. Simons had ended his relationship with Jenna to be with another 17-year-old, Katie Belflower.
