'Leave It to Niecy's' Niecy Nash blends reality and two families

On Comedy Central's "Reno 911!" Niecy Nash did improvisation, and on Style Network's "Clean House," she did reality. In her new series, TLC's "Leave It to Niecy," she does a little bit of both.

As the star of a docu-sitcom that blends elements from the sitcom genre and nonscripted reality shows, Nash spearheads the melding of her own family -- children Dominic, Donielle and Dia and her mother, Miss Margaret -- with her new husband, electrical engineer Jay, and his son, Romallis.

TLC viewers met Nash in the two-hour "Niecy Nash's Wedding Bash," which aired last June, and the eight-episode, half-hour series, premiering Sunday, March 25, follows the family as it balances work, life and love.

Meet a new kind of reality TV family. TLC's "Leave It to Niecy" (premieres Sun., Mar. 25, 10 p.m. Et) is an eight-episode, half-hour series that follows Niecy Nash and her family, including her new husband, Jay Tucker, whom she married on the TLC special "Niecy Nash's Wedding Bash" last year; their combined four children; and Niecy's mom, Miss Margaret.

They're calling this a "docu-sitcom," with the feel of a traditional sitcom, but none of the scripting. Of course some of the clips feel a bit staged -- not more than, say, sending the "Jersey Shore" cast to Italy and having them work in a pizza joint though -- but Nash and Tucker swear that this is just their family, funnier than average though they may be. TLC is set to air Niecy Nash's reality series Leave It to Niecy later this month. The new show will mark the actress-comedienne's return to TLC, who filmed her wedding for a two-hour special event called Niecy Nash's Wedding Bash back in June. Niecy Nash Gets TLC Reality Show

Niecy Nash is getting a reality show on TLC. The network, which was home to 'Niecy Nash's Wedding Bash,' has ordered eight episodes of a half-hour series about the 'Reno 911!' actress, according to Deadline.

The show, described as a docu-series, will follow Nash and her new husband Jay Tucker as they adjust to life as a newlywed couple with a blended family.
