Welcomed into the Super-Tooner ranks is Mason Burchett, a talented voice mimic from Monticello, Missouri. In his submission video, Mason performs vocal impressions of Looney Tunes characters Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Marvin the Martian, and the Tasmanian Devil. He also remarks that his parents grew up watching MeTV shows like The Andy Griffith Show (1960) and M*A*S*H (1972), making the network a kind of "family channel", bringing together different generations of viewers.
At the time this episode was first broadcast, Ready, Woolen and Able (1960) and Fast Buck Duck (1963) had not yet been released by Warner Bros. on DVD or Blu-ray.
The Viewer's Choice cartoon suggestion is Poor Cinderella (1934), Betty Boop's take on the Cinderella fairy tale, in which Betty sings "I'm Just a Poor Cinderella". Bill explains that the cartoon is the only Betty Boop short to be produced in color, utilizing the two-hue Cinecolor process (only reds and greens), since the Walt Disney company had exclusive rights to three-color Technicolor at that time. Bill also explains that the cartoon seldom turns up in TV programming because it's a little longer than most shorts (11 minutes instead of 7 minutes), but adds that they love rarities at "Toon In with Me".
In answer to a viewer's question, Bill explains that the term "cartoon" dates back hundreds of years, and would be applied to drawings and sketches (even those by the likes of Leonardo Da Vinci). Cartoon shorts like those shown on "Toon In with Me" were originally known as "animated cartoons", and the term was eventually shortened to just "cartoon".
The extra-long Poor Cinderella (1934) makes its "Toon In with Me" debut, but the four other featured cartoons had all appeared in previous episodes of the show: Ready, Woolen and Able (1960) was in Bill & Toony in Black & White (2021); Hawks and Doves (1968) was in Toony Goes Hollywood (2021); Fast Buck Duck (1963) was in both Toony Goes Hollywood (2021) and Bill Is Sleepwalking (2021); and Cat Feud (1958) was in both Family Affairs (2021) and Wow What a Day! (2021).
