The Mobius drag strip is a nod to the orange HotWheels flexible race tracks originally sold from the late 1960s. They could be connected in loops, bent into swirls, etc. You can even see lines where the pieces of track are connected.
Bessie's four dimensional intake manifold contains a tesseract, a four dimensional hypercube. Actually (for the mathematical purists) what you see is a two dimensional Schlegel diagram image of a three dimensional reprentation of a four dimensional object.

In the impound/junkyard a talking orange dune buggy is melted down. That was Speed Buggy, from the Saturday morning cartoon series Speed Buggy (1973). Next a white race car is melted and an anime style character is shown doing the typical cheesy anime "surprised" reaction, the car and character were the Mach 5 and its driver, Gô Mifune, from the anime series Speed Racer (1967).
