Gws vs Carl, at GIANTS Stadium.

McKay out for the Blues, Cameron's last game as coach of the Giants. Durdin with the first for Carlton, Walsh follows with the next two. De Koning takes a nice mark and converts. The Giants unable to even get it inside 50, until Ward kicks their first with 8 minutes left in the term. A back-half Blues blunder results in a Toby goal. He goals again to have the Giants back within 12 at quarter-time. Riccardi takes a nice grab and converts. Kennedy for the Giants, goals from outside 50, followed by Kelly on the run, all tied at the half. The umpires really take over the game in the 3rd, with horrible calls, many 50 metre penalties and little game flow. O'Brien goals from outside 50, Carlton up a goal going into the last. Curnow doing a solid job, without McKay in the side, he kicks back to back goals in the 4th. Docherty goals from the centre square to put the Giants away, the Blues home by 30 points. The Giants dominated the hit-outs, Carlton +8 in clearances, with more of the footy. The Blues had 17 more inside 50's, for 8 more scoring shots. Kelly best afield in the losing side, with 36 disposals, 6 clearances, 7 tackles, 6 intercepts and a goal. Taylor 16 disposals, 2 contested marks, 11 intercepts. Preuss 15 disposals, 44 hit-outs, 4 contested marks and 7 intercepts. For Carlton, Walsh 31 disposals, 7 intercepts and 2 goals. Weitering 18 disposals, 3 contested marks, 9 intercepts and 447 metres gained. Hewett 30 disposals, 8 clearances, 5 inside 50, 5 intercepts and an assist. Docherty 27 effective disposals, 5 inside 50's, 8 intercepts, 444 metres gained and a goal.
