- In downtown Blue Valley, Sylvester gets out of his car and walks down the street. Townspeople greet him as he passes, and he gets a cup of coffee. Sylvester goes into the diner and orders some food, as well as a cup of tea. Yolanda, working as a waitress, comes over and asks Sylvester what Wildcat would have thought of him. Sylvester assures her that he would have thought she was a badass, and then he asks Yolanda what is it people do around there. She says that people work, and Sylvester seizes on the idea and explains that he's looking for balance.
Yolanda gets called over to another table, and a man having breakfast sits at a corner table.
At the Whitmore house, Courtney makes breakfast for the rest of the family. They come in and Barbara wonders what the special occasion is. Courtney insists there's no special occasion, and she discusses who killed Gambler. She says that Sylvester went out to see Blue Valley, and Pat talks about wonderful the town is. The Crocks come in and Larry lectures the Whitmores about the benefits of a balanced breakfast, and Paula serves tofu bowls. The Whitmores are less than thrilled.
Beth and Rick go for a car, and Beth's parents talk to their daughter about Gambler's death until she shuts off the line. Rick says that his uncle Matt is gone, and doesn't care where he went. Beth's goggles make a noise and she tells Rick that someone is forwarding her a bunch of documents, that reveal Gambler was blackmailing someone. The sender doesn't identify themselves.
Cindy finishes sending the files to Beth from Gambler's computers. She then enters the wrong password repeatedly, and finally closes the laptop lid in disgust.
Later at school, Courtney finds Cindy waiting at her locker. Cindy asks if there are any updates on the JSA front, and C says that Gambler was blackmailing someone. She says that she thought Gambler was trying to be a better person for his daughter, and Cindy says that it doesn't matter unless a father does what he says. She asks about Starman, and Courtney says that he's taking the day off to find balance Cindy asks Courtney if she's going to find balance, and Courtney insists that she has balance. Courtney walks over to Cameron, who glares at her and then walks off.
At American Dream, Paula tells Barbara that they have a situation. Once they're in Barbara's office, she says that the cake she made was a big hit at the Woman's Rotary Club, and now they want Paula to give an initiation speech. A panicked Paula says that she doesn't know to give a speech. Barbara tells her to talk about she's looking forward to doing whatever the club does, but neither one of them know. Tim comes in and taunts her about her reading proposal. Once he leaves, Barbara tells Paula who Tim is and that she's going to be up late working on her new proposal. Barbara suggests that Paula leave, and Paula does so.
At the garage, Pat is working on STIPE while Sylvester looks through the newspaper for jobs. Zeek is there and says that he can put in a good work for his cousin who is looking for a farmhand, He asks what Sylvester's work history, and Sylvester says that his parents just treated him as a prop. He says that without Starman he's nothing, and Pat assures him that he's not nobody. Zeek talks about how his mother dropped him off with his grandparents, and he learned salvage is an opportunity. He tells Sylvester go figure it out and walks off, and Pat tells Sylvester to keep a good attitude. Sylvester sees an ad in the paper for work at the Sub Shop and gets an idea.
The JSA members meet at the school cafeteria, and Beth tells them that the blackmail payments came from wire transfers from a man, Irwin Hasen. Hasen is an alias for Larry, and Courtney they can't tell Sylvester in case he wants to move in. Courtney wants to wait, figuring that Sylvester will rush in. She sees Artemis at a nearby table with the jocks, and says that they have to be sure about her parents' guilt before they take her parents away from her again. She says that they'll regroup at the diner, and gets everyone to agree not tell Sylvester.
In the art classroom, the teacher Mrs. Woods points out to Cameron that he's assigned on classwork, and asks if he's okay. He says that he'll turn in his work later, and Woods says she's willing to listen to him if he wants someone to talk to. Camron snaps at her to leave him alone, and Rick comes in and overhears, and tells Rick not to be a jerk, and Woods is only trying to help. Once Cameron apologizes, Rick approaches and tells him that he can't talk to people however he wants. Cameron snaps at Rick and bumps into him as he passes the other boy, and Rick warns him not to talk to Woods like that.
Outside, Cameron approaches Rick's car and projects an icicle into the tire, puncturing it.
Sylvester arrives at the Whitmore house after failing to get a job. Cindy arrives and says that the JSA was having a meeting about Gambler blackmailing the Crocks. She suggests that the two of them go after the Crocks, and Sylvester says that he trusts her less than the other villains, and slams the door in her face.
Sylvester gets the Staff and says that they'll go after the Crocks together. As he leaves, Mike watches from hiding.
That night at the grocery store, Paula and Larry are shopping and Larry is shoplifting out of habit. Paula tells him to put it back. Sylvester approaches them, wielding the Staff, and asks if they killed Gambler. He says that he know Gambler was blackmailing them, and they killed him. The Crocks deny it, and say they don't want to fight. Larry tells Sylvester to go back to his basement, and he tells the couple to confess.
Rick arrives at the garage late, and tells Pat that he had a flat. His teammates are there, and Courtney says that she and Pat are going to talk to the Crocks and give them a chance to explain. Mike calls his half-sister to tell them what Sylvester has planned.
Sylvester blast at the Crocks, who dodge while the rest of the customers run. Sylvester manages to hold the Crocks off, but Paula finally gets him in a chokehold. Larry grabs a bat, and moves in, but Sylvester pulls the Staff to himself and manages to knock over Larry. He then blasts the entire store with the Staff, and then the Crocks move in and attack him. They manage to grab the Staff, but Sylvester pulls it back to himself and knocks them out the front window. He goes after them and blows up a nearby car. STIPRE arrives and Pat tells them that the fight is over and Sylvester should walks away
Later at the Whitmore house, the Crocks arrive and tell Courtney, Pat, and Barbara that Gambler was blackmailing them and they wanted to kill him, but didn't. Gambler was blackmailing them over crimes the other ISA members committed when they weren't there. Larry admits that they're guilty of a lot but not the murder. Two months ago Gambler stopped blackmailing them, and then gave them their money.
Larry says that he did pay a visit to Gambler on the day he was murdered, figuring Gambler was there to start blackmailing them again. Larry got too worked up and left before he did something stupid, and didn't tell the Whitmores because they were afraid of the heat. Paula says that they wouldn't make the same mistake twice and risk going to prison.
Sylvester comes in, glare at the Crocks, and then goes to the basement. Pat goes after him and Sylvester complains that Pat sided with the Crocks instead of him. When Sylvester calls Pat his sidekick, Pat insists that he's nobody's sidekick. Pat says that the Crocks didn't kill Gambler, and tells Sylvester about how Courtney thought Sylvester was her father rather than her real father. Sylvester is taken aback, and Pat describes how Courtney's father came to Blue Valley to get the locket she had as a child. He says that the pain will never leave Courtney, and that's why the two of them have to be there for Courtney. Pat says that Sylvester has to be like a father to Courtney, and Sylvester has a responsibility to all the JSA to be the Starman that he set out.
Sylvester says that he doesn't know who he set out to be, and he's a crazy man who blows up grocery stores and doesn't have a costume. Pat tells him that the costume doesn't make the man, but Sylvester says that the costume it's a start.
The next day, Courtney tells the others about that she believes the Crocks are innocent. Cindy joins them and says that she went to Sylvester because she didn't want to sit around and do nothing. She says that she wanted to prove herself, and thought that if Sylvester approved of her, then the other would as well. Courtney tells Cindy that if she does something like that again, she's off the team, and Cindy agrees.
Paula gets up before the Rotary Club and nervously gives her speech as Barbara comes in. Bracing herself, Paula says that she loves the town and the people in it. Hearing her, Barbara applauds.
The next day at school, Cameron apologizes to Courtney for being a jerk. She asks if everything is okay, and he says that he's not sure if he's ready to talk about it yet. Courtney suggests that they just go for a walk together
That night in the Whitmore basement, Sylvester is going through the old JSA files. He talks to the Staff, figuring there's something at the crime scene they all overlooked. Sylvester figures they should go back, then tells the Staff it's not his turn to have it and he has to be a better Starman.
Cameron and Cameron walk down Main Street. Cameron refuses to take Courtney's hand when she offers it, and says that he has to go. She says that it's okay, and he walks away
Sylvester tells the staff to wish him luck and then goes. Barbara is in the kitchen and sees her working, but goes back to her proposal.
At the American Dream, Paula confronts Tim and tells him that they have to talk about her friend. She says that he's going to be a lot nicer to her.
Cindy is in the old ISA headquarters trying and failing to get access to Gambler's laptop. In another room, Gambler's murderer watches her on the monitor and growls.
Sylvester goes to the trailer camp and looks around.
Pat works on a new costume for Sylvester, and Mike watches him briefly and then leaves without being seen.
At the trailer park, the killer picks up Sylvester and throws him into the sky.
Sylvester finishes the new Starman costume.
Sylvester falls to the ground, unconscious or dead.
