There's been a lot of major movement on the Shazam! front over the past week as it went from being just one film to being two as a solo feature for Black Adam was officially announced with Dwayne Johnson headlining. While both films are still in the very early stages of development, with still no directors attached, the recent activity has shed some light on who may be writing one of these two DC cinematic adventures. The Hollywood Reporter, in their initial report on Thursday, revealed that they believed Henry Gayden (Earth to Echo) had been assigned scriptwriting duties and on Friday, Gayden himself confirmed the news on his own personal Twitter account. Check out his exchange with a fan below: @annericelover Confirmed and loving what's to come... :)— Henry Gayden (@HenryGayden) January 20, 2017 Outside of Earth to Echo, which had a fairly average critical reception, Hayden has written the shorts Ham Sandwich and Zombie Roadkill.

There is still hope for 80s nostalgia film lovers looking for that contemporary tie-in to the films we loved when we were kids. And it looks like our potential savior comes by way of director David Green. At least this time, the kids look to be a part of the adventure, simply not observers, as in previous efforts. Green is no stranger to us at Twitch. We have already expressed our love for his short film Ham Sandwich and series Zombie Roadkill. And now, we can look forward to his feature debut Earth to Echo, which will open in cinemas on July 2. Tuck, Munch and Alex are a closely bonded trio of inseparable friends, but their time together is coming to an end. Their neighborhood is...

While it’s nice to see that proponents of found-footage cinema are still strongly invested in moving the subgenre away from its horror roots, I just wish that more upcoming projects hinted at even a spark of originality. The first trailer for this summer’s Earth to Echo, a found-footage sci-fi flick set for release in July, appears to mash up Steven Spielberg’s E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial and J.J. Abrams’ Super 8, but I can’t spy much about the project that seems even remotely intriguing.
You can check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments section, but I’m incredibly underwhelmed by the footage on display here. Even overlooking the fact that viewers will be treated to whiplash-inducing camerawork from a group of terrified kids, nothing stands out about the characters or even the central alien (evidently named Echo...

We love us some Dave Green here at Twitch, the director of Meltdown and Ham Sandwich and Zombie Roadkill having won our hearts with a string of clever, heartfelt, and very, very funny genre bending shorts. Hell, the guy's responsible for unleashing zombie skunks and a time traveling sandwich into the world, how could we not love him?And now Green is making the leap to feature films with his debut offering, Earth To Echo. When a group of young friends begin to receive bizarre encrypted messages on their cellphones, they embark on an incredible adventure to discover the meaning behind these communications. Soon enough, they realize that the messages they are receiving are from a mysterious being from another world - one who desperately needs...

It being the day after Thanksgiving I thought it would be appropriate to share this fun comedy short with you about the leftovers we all have packed away in our fridges. The short is called MeltDown, and it tells the story of a bunch of leftovers fighting for their lives.
The short was directed by Dave Green, and David Cross lends his voice to Ham Sandwich. The movie is awesomely silly and I hope you enjoy it. I don't think I'll ever look at leftovers the same way again.
Meltdown from Dave Green on Vimeo.
