Violet and the Murder House
claudio_carvalho16 April 2017
Ben visits Vivien and apologizes to her telling that now she knows that she told the truth. Then he is pressed by a school representative since Violet missed classes for sixteen days. Ben discusses the problem with Violet and explains that he will be summoned in court if she continues to be a truant. Violet promises to go on the next day. Tate dresses the rubber suit and attacks Ben that succeeds to remove his mask. However he faints and Tate meets Violet in the attic. He decides to disclose a tragic secret to Violet and takes her to see a corpse.

"Smoldering Children" is another episode where the population of ghosts in the murder house increases. The disappearance of the exterminator Phil does not have consequences. Larry turning himself in for the murder of Travis is quite silly. My vote is seven.

S1.E10 - Violet is Dead [9/10]

Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E10) My Live Reaction / Review for American Horror Story Season 1 Episode 10 ''Smoldering Children''. The previous episode was good and I gave it a rating of 8.6/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Nice to see Addy again even if it is just a flashback. Tate was the one that put Larry on fire? Damn I didn't see that coming. Tate killed the exterminator? I didn't see that coming. Tate attacks Ben? Tate is nuts. Tate wants Violet to kill herself so they can be together, that's crazy, I hope she wont do it. Violet is trying to escape but she cant leave the house. What is going on? Is this a ghost too? It's so sad Violet is dead, the Harmon family is so messed up. Overall this episode was good, my rating is 9/10.

Award Winning Episode
ryanwoods_everton8 December 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This weeks episode of American Horror Story was by far the best in the series and we can only hope that the rest of the series that follows are close to this.

***MAJORSPOILERS*** ***MAJORSPOILERS*** ***MAJORSPOILERS*** ***SPOILERS***

This episode had a lot of great revealings such as us finding out that Denis O'Hare's character Larry was actually burnt by Tate right before his school shooting with no remorse on his face, this gives us another dark portrayal of Tate making us believe more and more that he is actually evil. Another one of my favourite parts of this episode was Tates dressed in the rubber suits fight with Ben which eventually ended with Ben getting knocked out but not before him finding out Tate's identity as the rubber man. But then came the best part of the episode which was the biggest shock of the series which revealed that Violet had actually died of an overdose 16 days earlier and for the most part of the series it has been Violets ghost running around the house. It also revealed that Tate has actually been looking out for Violet and making sure she didn't leave the house so she didn't realise she was dead, this shows us that Tate is not actually all bad as it paints him in a better light for the audience. This episode has personally been my favourite and i can only think that it has been everyone else.

This is an amazing episode, from violet freaking out to Tate and bens confrontation, the flashbacks to when larry burns his house, great stuff big on horror content, a lot of big payoffs, love the episode

What the hell?
MomentIMDB2 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The episode begins by answering a question about how Larry burned.

When Constance stayed with Larry, Tate was angry and went to Lawrence's job and bathed him in gasol and burned him.

Ben asks violet to go back to school.

Tate hears that he wants to take her away so he decides to hit Ben to scare him. When Tate passes out, Ben discovers that the latex man is Tate.

Constance discovers the whereabouts of Travis, the Dahlia boy. the police accuse her and also for past events, such as the death of moira.

I loved the closure they gave larry's character. When he is in the basement of the murder house, he finds Travis and sees him with his daughters. His wife tells him that he must pay for what he did. bye larry.

The best scene of the episode is when Tate wants to commit suicide with violet but she scared wants to escape from the house but when she tries to leave she reappears in the house.

Tate shows violet her dead body. plot twist

The problem with the Moira character
ameliek8126 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
She was murdered when she was young, yet, her ghost has aged. Now, up until this episode, because men see the younger version of her and the women see the older version, the viewer can believe "maybe it depends on what the person interacting with WANTS to see". But in this episode, when Ben sees her has an elderly woman, she says "you're finally beginning to see things as they are" How is "how things are" her being an elderly woman? If aging is how things are, why haven't any other ghost aged? Why haven't the kids grown up?

While the episode is really good, and with all the easter eggs in the entire series, the hints towards future seasons, how they all connect somehow, this feels like a pretty big goof on the writers part. So part of me is wondering, is there a hidden meaning behind her being older and it being "how things really are"? Having watched the entire series (up until season 9), there's no explanation for it, which makes it feel more like a mistake/poor writing.

A Better One
artpf2 January 2014
Things get even nuttier. More over the top stuff that defies description. We learn how burn man got burns.

The funny part is, for a family that is nearly bankrupt and a doctor who has no patients, they don't seem to have much problem paying the bills.

This is actually one of the better episodes, but that's not saying all that much.

We find out who else is dead. OK My goodness this is one full house. Scary stuff in the crawl spaces and flies all over the place.

I really wish the writing was better.
