In the actual location, the bar is located immediately to the right of the stage. The geography was cheated to make it look like the bar is on the opposite end of the room from the stage. This was achieved by changing the background bar patron and the location of the poster on the column. This idea is credited to the Gaffer (Donald K Murphy II) and the Dp (Marco Gutierrez).
The writer and director, Jessica Farmer, had the idea for the script after coming back from a night out drinking with members of the indie rock group Pinky Verde. The guitarist (Ryan Wentz) started playing a jazz riff on a piano, and Farmer started dancing a Charleston routine that gradually got more and more rag-doll and creepy. She got the idea to write a short based around the idea of that dance.
In the bar, there is a stuffed alligator hanging on the wall behind The Bartender. This is a call-back to the alligator mural that Brenden first walks past before his phone starts to malfunction.
The man in the alley is not a background actor.
Jessica Farmer worked as a contortionist during college in Wilmington, NC.
