Not a cadaver of a movie, but kinda unappealing to me at times

"Cadaver" is an American animated short film from 2012, so this one is in the English language of course and it has its 5th anniversary this year. It is the second filmmaking effort by writer and director Jonah D. Ansell and his third is coming out this year including the voice talents of a couple pretty famous actors. Then again, the names Lloyd and Bates aren't too shabby either for this one here. It is the story of a cadaver coming back to life at a morgue and we find out (in rhymes) about his motives and how the people witnessing rise deal with the whole situation. Sadly, I must say that there were many things in here that did not appeal to me, most of all the animation style, but also the story on some occasions, which had as a consequence that the heart and emotion, especially near the end, stayed relatively ineffective to, but yes this is almost 100% subjective here. The film somewhat combines the worst of both worlds when it comes to the way in which it mixes modern looks with retro style. But still despite all this criticism, I will be generous as the general idea and plot are not a failure by any means and it is just my very personal take why I didn't like big parts. What I liked the most was maybe the great song used during the closing credits, perhaps a positive deal breaker for me here that made me finally give this one a thumbs-up.
