Most of the interviews were filmed at The Solomon Cutler, a pub on Broad Street situated between ATV Centre and Central's studios in Gas Street.
Chris Tarrant's interview was recorded in one of the dressing rooms for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, as he was to film a show later that day. The production crew from From ATVLand In Colour were invited into the audience.
The idea for the documentary was suggested by BBC cameraman Keith Jacobsen over a pub lunch in Birmingham back in 2005, as it looked certain the studios would be demolished by the end of the year.
Narrator and producer Lee Bannister is a local radio DJ for a station based at City of Wolverhampton University. He was reluctant to lend his voice to the documentary, but executive producers convinced him his clear-cut tones with a hint of West Midlands accent, would be perfect for the task.
