On the day of Ted's barbecue Carol finds three hundred pounds hidden in a drawer and accuses Jake of keeping drugs money, leading to a row. Rochelle comes to see her at work to tell her of her suspension and things prey on her mind. She is abrupt with Ted and has a row with another customer. She thinks back to the time when she was with her husband and Jake was little. After visiting her mother she joins her workmates at a pub where she does a stand-up comedy routine. On her way home she meets Alfie, the little boy who took the gun to the police station, and he tells her he and Kyle, Carol's other son, found the three hundred pounds. Back at her flat she hears the gun shot and Jake rushes in, asking her to say that he was with her all night, which she does when the police come to see them.
