Dad: doesn't know how to cook. Mom: head-in-the-clouds sluggish woman with very little apparently going on in between the ears. Chef: aggressive, loud and frustrated. Son: dragged into the business by his dad who used his trust fund to open it up. What happens when you combined them all together? Ever heard the term "cluster you-know-what"? I got to say it: Gen needs to be strangled. She's the slow-witted aimless-brained dimwit who doesn't know what's going on, get's things wrong even seconds after it being said to her, and seems to be born to make situations worse. For however rude and abrasive the chef was, he was right: she is the problem there (well, also the food). And who cares about your age! It's irrelevant to the argument, the situation, or quite frankly, the facts; she can't even argue without going off on some unrelated mental tangent. David was right, she does need Prozac (preferably, after she's fired).
Five people and terrible burgers, that's what you get when these people try to run a hamburger joint. Who would have ever thought trying to make a simple, good-tasting burger would be so hard? The debt is huge, the menu changes more times than Al Roker changes his pants in the White House, the turn-over in chef's is every month, and nobody can get along. And then, to make sure things stay screwed up, Gen is there. And then there's Alan's claim that Yelp is secretly plotting to close them and is deleting their good reviews, as if Yelp was the one making their crappy burgers and married to Gen. Next thing you'll tell me is Yelp faked the moon landing or that Yelp secretly did the 9/11 radical Islamist terrorist massacres. Poor Yelp.
How Alan could even think this would work (let alone how he thought marrying Gen was a good idea), is beyond me. My God. This has epic failure written on it (or printed out on paper...) even from the start. If you have to essentially steal money from your son's trust fund to open it, then the warning bells should have already sounded off.
And yes, while David (the chef) was way too abusive and mouthy, he was mostly right and he CAN cook despite Gen's cut-away scene insult. He's actually fun to watch, too; he's got a good voice, appearance, presence -- he'd make a good character actor. I think he's missing his calling. Though some of the insults were a bit much.
And how many times did the David say it: you should be on Prozac. He never once said you were on Prozac. My God, Gen, are you that inept? Did the words enter one ear and fly out the other with tumbleweeds? I seriously get miffed off watching her. In different respects, she's almost as bad as Abby from another episode.
This dysfunctional assembly of people finally made the show do what it had never done before: make a two-parter. And no -- it's not heavily padded (though Gen should be in a room with heavy padding; sorry, I'm still aggravated about her).
