This episode is everything a Castle episode should be, striking the perfect balance between comedy, character and crime.

Warning: Spoilers
Disclaimer - this post contains a summary of the episode (and therefore spoilers, if you haven't seen it).

The Basics: An innocent couple doing some innocent fruit-shopping is slightly perturbed by the sudden appearance of an airborne corpse. Suicide, you say? Oh no - the corpse recently got jiggy, and (as it turns out) belongs to a pick-up artist with a gaggle of scorned gals in his wake. Beckett and the team investigate the murder, while Ryan prepares for his wedding with a lime-juice-exclusive diet that makes him delusional and causes some friction in his bromance.

The Highlights: This episode features, above all, some great Castle-family moments. Building on a hunch, Castle asks his daughter and mother how they would kill a man who had cheated on them, and their response is a hilariously gruesome description of the various ways in which the deed could be done.

There's also some good Caskett moments, like a jealous "who?!" from Beckett when it's revealed that Castle is bringing a +1 to the wedding (just Alexis, it turns out), and a conspicuous pre-wedding walk down the aisle as Castle leads Beckett to her seat (way to hit us over the head with that one, ABC). A spoiler alert has suggested there will be a Beckett / Castle kiss in episode 14, so it would appear they're ramping up the proverbial "foreplay" to ensure the audience is positively brimming with anticipation before any payoff takes place.

The Verdict: This episode is everything a Castle episode should be, striking the perfect balance between comedy, character and crime. Mix a sappy character plot (a wedding) with a fun and twisty crime to solve, and you've got Castle gold. It's hella-light by crime drama standards, but isn't that why we love this show? 4.5 / 5
