Although shot in Squamish, British Columbia and spoken entirely in English, the main market for this film is Brazilian. Woody Woodpecker is a well-known character in the country and reruns of the original cartoon can still be seen on TV to this day.
The Timothy Omundson character Lance Walters is a play on the name of the creator of Woody Woodpecker, Walter Lantz.
For the first time in 20 years, the 1950s design is used for Woody Woodpecker. It last appeared in the final theatrical short cartoon, Bye, Bye, Blackboard (1972), but was used still used for many years as the official look of Woody Woodpecker. It was retired in 1997, but finally brought back 20 years later for this movie.
Timothy Omundson who plays Lance Walter's talks about Woody as a demon from hell. Ironically, he played Cain on Supernatural.
When Lance's ex comes by in the beginning, she tells Lance that her father had a stroke and she needs him to watch their son. Timothy Omundson had a stroke the same year before filming Woody Woodpecker (2017) and Psych: The Movie (2017).
